Today the International Association of Fire Fighters is holding the Fallen Fire Fighter Memorial. Although this is important every year. This year is especially sacred to Local 4302. Our Brother, Division Chief Erwin, is being recognized due to his unfortunate line of duty death in January of last year.

Division Chief Erwin, was a great leader, friend, brother, husband, and father. His presence in the firehouse is still missed. He will not be forgotten.

The Fallen Fire Fighter Memorial is an annual event that honors the memory of our brothers and sisters who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty. The Memorial is located in Colorado Springs, Colorado, and hosts a solemn ceremony every September.

Below is a link to live stream this event and join in view the ceremony that honors our brother, and all others that were lost this past year.

Ceremony begins 11am CDT

Over the past weekend members of Local 4302 were able to compete in Schaumburg Professional Firefighters Association IAFF LOCAL 4092 charity soft ball tournament!

This is a great way for several area departments to build better relationships, but also help out those in need. The proceeds from this tournament went to local charities!

Thanks to our buddies Poseidon Electric Vehicle Nozzle & Decontamination Unit for the new donated jerseys!

Local 4302 will the 343 fire fighters lost on 9/11/2001. Nor will we forget the many others who lost their lives that day and for the years following due to the destruction and illnesses related to the hazardous conditions left behind from the attacks.

Although we honor all who have lost their lives in the line of duty. This day stands as a stark reminder to the fact that this job requires us to go towards danger as opposed to run from it no matter how daunting.

Members of Local 4302 were able to visit the 9/11 memorial museum a few years ago. Below is a picture of what was left of FDNY Ladder 3 after the towers collapsed. That crew responded with the goal of saving others, no matter the cost.

If you, or a loved one were affected by those terrible attacks 25 years ago, just know that we will always remember that tragedy, and never forget what we lost.

Local 4302’s Project Fire Buddies chapter has made a new pal! This is Aiden! We were more than happy to meet him, and help him have a great day!

For those that are unfamiliar, the purpose of project fire buddies is to support critically ill children and their families, providing joy, companionship, and unforgettable experiences.

Although we work hard to help those in need on shift, our members take special pride in volunteering their time in this way off shift.
