The Myrtle Beach Police Department K9 Unit is looking for new locations to use for training!

Realistic training environments are an important part of keeping our K9 teams prepared for the wide variety of situations they may encounter.

We are currently looking for:
• Open or wooded land
• Commercial buildings or warehouses
• Houses or apartments
• Other unique locations that could provide valuable training opportunities

If you own or have access to a property and would be interested in allowing the MBPD K9 Unit to use it for training, we’d love to hear from you!

Maurice and Elijah finished in a tie and were both selected to receive a Myrtle Beach High School scholarship.

Each applicant was asked to write about a law enforcement officer who has served as a positive role model in their life. We would also like to recognize the officers whose leadership, service, and example inspired these students:

Lt. Angel Walker, Myrtle Beach Police Department Watch Commander

Former Cpl. Austin Cox, who served with the Myrtle Beach Police Department as the K9 Supervisor and SWAT Team Leader

Officer Sale, Horry County Police Department School Resource Officer at Socastee High School

Special Agent Carter Weaver Jr., South Carolina Law Enforcement Division

Thank you to all of our generous sponsors. Without your support, these scholarships and the opportunities they provide would not be possible.

A special thank you to Smoking Shields South Carolina, who continues to make a substantial contribution to the scholarship program each year. Your continued generosity and commitment play an important role in helping us invest in deserving students and honor Jacob’s legacy.

We would also like to thank the active members of the Myrtle Beach Police Foundation Board, who generously volunteer their time, energy, and experience to advance the Foundation’s mission and serve this great cause. Their commitment behind the scenes helps make programs like these scholarships possible.

These scholarships honor the life and legacy of Officer Jacob Hancher while investing in the futures of four deserving students.

Congratulations, Jaiden, Maurice, Elijah, and Julia! We wish each of you the very best as you begin this exciting next chapter and continue your education. Your future is bright, and we cannot wait to see all that you accomplish. 💙🖤💙🖤

From Myrtle Beach to Chicago, the brotherhood stands strong. 🇺🇸🚔

Several members of the Myrtle Beach Police Department traveled to Chicago to attend the funeral services for fallen Chicago Police Officer John Bartholomew and stand alongside our brothers and sisters in blue during a time of unimaginable loss.

While there, officers also stopped by Wrigley Field — home of the Chicago Cubs and a meaningful connection to our own Myrtle Beach Pelicans organization.

We would also like to extend a special thank you to Brotherhood for the Fallen South Carolina for their continued support of law enforcement officers and families during difficult times.

Please continue to keep Officer Bartholomew’s family, friends, and the Chicago Police Department in your thoughts and prayers. 💙
