Today is the perfect excuse to enjoy your favorite sweet treat, but at the Children's Recovery Center, we know that some of the sweetest tings in life aren't found on a dessert menu.

They're found in a kind word, a caring heart, a helping hand, and a community that comes together to make a difference.🫶

Just like the perfect dessert, a little love and kindness can go a long way!

So grab a cupcake, share a cookie, and remember that even the smallest acts of kindness can bring hope and happiness to someone who needs it.

What's your favorite dessert? Tell us in the comments.

October 12th is Indigenous Peoples' Day, a day to honor the cultures, histories, and enduring contributions of Indigenous communities across North America.

So much of Indigenous history, tradition, and perspective is woven into the story of this country, and this is a good day to explore it a little more.

The Smithsonian's Native Knowledge 360° program is a wonderful place to start, covering everything from Indigenous history and culture to civics and geography, all developed in partnership with Native communities.

Wishing you a meaningful and reflective Indigenous Peoples' Day.

Parents have difficult days, too. We lose patience. We misunderstand. We sometimes react differently than we wish we had. One of the most popwerful things you can do afterward is acknowledge it.

"I shouldn't have raised my voice. I'm sorry. I was frustrated, but I could have handled that differently."

A sincere apology shows chidlren that everyone makes mistakes, and healthy relationships include taking responsibility, making repairs, and trying again.

You don't have to model perfection. You can model growth, respect, and accountability.

10/10/2026

For chidlren who have experienced abuse or trauma, healing begins with compassion, understanding, and a safe place to be heard.

This World Mental Health Day, we encourage parents, caregivers, and our community to remember that even the smallest acts of kindness, patience, and reassurance can make a lasting difference in a child's life.

❤Listen without judgment.
❤Create safe spaces for conversation.
❤Remind children that their feelings matter.
❤Let them know they are never alone.

Together, we can help build a community where every child feels supported and empowered to heal.
