Local 2345 would like to congratulate Master Firefighters Gunter Bowling, Tim Erway, C**t Gallaway, Matt Lanzelotti, AJ Lauria, Adam Morgan, Stephen Shafer, and Todd Stitt on their well-earned promotions!

We are proud to have these eight master firefighters representing Local 2345 and the Myrtle Beach Fire Department, and we look forward to seeing them continue serve our department and community.

Last week, the Myrtle Beach Fire Department held a promotional assessment for the rank of Master Firefighter which entails an extensive written test, and skills proficiency in driving the engine, pumping the engine, and operating the aerial truck.

After the assessment, 8 firefighters had shown they were ready for the next step in their career and were promoted to the rank of Master Firefighter!

Congratulations to Master Firefighter's Gunter Bowling, Tim Erway, C**t Gallaway, Matt Lanzelotti, AJ Lauria, Adam Morgan, Stephen Shafer, and Todd Stitt.

Over the next few days each Master Firefighter will have their own post highlighting their career so far so stay tuned for those! Congratulations to everyone and good luck in the next step of your career!

Congratulations to L2345 Trustee Robert “Bob” Strickland for being the First In Service employee of the week. Well deserved!

✨ FIRST IN SERVICE FRIDAY ✨ Please join the City of Myrtle Beach in congratulating Robert "Bob" Strickland as this week's First in Service Friday Employee of the Week! Bob is a firefighter/paramedic at Fire Station No. 1.

"B-Strick" started with the Myrtle Beach Fire Department in 2018. He began his firefighter career at Fire Station No. 3, where he was able to hone his skills and learn the job. Now at Fire Station No. 1, he runs a variety of calls on different rigs, which makes it interesting. Bob is from the Myrtle Beach area originally. He worked as a lawyer for years before transferring starting a career as a firefighter with MBFD. He says his favorite part of the job are the people, and that "coming to work feels like I get to spend time with my best friends."

His nomination reads...

"I would like to nominate Robert Strickland (B-Strick) for First in Service Friday! Ever since I joined the city, B-Strick has played a huge role in my growth as a member of the department. From physical training during recruit school all the way to where I am today, he has consistently pushed me to be better every day.

Whether we’re on the fire side or the EMS side, B-Strick always makes sure we are training, learning, and improving. He leads by example and takes the time to help others become better members of the team.

“Bob” truly represents the MB “First in Service” mindset. He consistently puts the needs of the community first and makes sure that serving the people of Myrtle Beach remains our top priority. His dedication to training, mentorship, and service is a huge reason why I believe he deserves this nomination."

The Myrtle Beach Fire Dept. Ice Hockey team helped raise more than $2,500 for a family in need at the Brothers Helping Brothers charity hockey game against Columbia Fire Hockey this past Saturday!

The teams went head to head at Flight Adventure Park - Irmo to raise money for the Dominick family, who have a child with a brain tumor. The MBFD hockey team took the win, with a final score of 8-6, but everyone walked away with a smile helping a fire service brother and his family in their time of need.

Thanks to the Columbia Fire Department (SC) for hosting and best wishes to Engineer Cody Dominick and his family.

Congratulations to Lieutenant LeFebvre on his promotion!

We are proud to announce that Master Firefighter Tim LeFebvre has been promoted to Lieutenant! Lieutenant LeFebvre obtained his EMT Certification in 2016 and began his fire career at the city of Myrtle Beach in 2018. He started his career at Station 4 and has spent the majority of his career at Station 1 on A-Shift. Lieutenant LeFebvre is also a Tier 1 rescue swimmer, an EMT preceptor , a BLS/CPR Instructor, and Car Seat Technician. Lieutenant LeFebvre would like to thank the support of his wife Savannah and son Henrik through his career! Lieutenant LeFebvre will continue the next phase of his career as a Lieutenant on A-shift. Congratulations and good luck in your new position!

For tax free weekend YOUR Myrtle Beach Professional Firefighters were out collecting donations at Coastal Grand Mall to Fill the Boot for Muscular Dystrophy Association. Thanks to the generosity of our community and the members who donated their time we were able to raise about $3,800.

Former Charleston Fire Union President John Baker has filed a federal lawsuit against the City of Charleston, alleging the city violated his constitutional rights by firing him in retaliation for advocating on behalf of firefighters and speaking out about unsafe working conditions.
