Bernie is an 18 year old, yes you read that correctly, 18 year old neutered male Shih Tzu. His family sadly could no longer care for him and were planning to euthanize him.
A rescuer intercepted and this old man is now safe. He is not currently under the auspices of a rescue.
Bernie is very housebroken, walks well on a leash, gets along well with cats and small and large dogs and kids, respectful of course. He can easily be knocked over, so that should be considered. Nothing phases Bernie, he’s social and wants to say hello to everyone.
Bernie had a makeover and a nose to tail exam at the vet. He was such a good boy for both. Bernie has some issues but the vet agreed at his age to treat him with supplements and TLC.
He has one eye and 3 very white teeth. Since they are non-opposing teeth he needs soft food.
Bernie is in need of a retirement home. He is hearing impaired and visually impaired but will bark to let you know he wants or needs something.
He is currently being fostered in Vero Beach, FL.
