From Greg Newell (Pete Newell's Youngest son)

Okay.......Here's the deal: Todd Malecki is one of the very best BB TEACHERS of Fundamental BB at the Youth Level in Southern California.....PERIOD!! I can name possibly 5, that I have personally seen; who match; or come close. Thing is, those other 4 are "hired guns"; they don't run their own Camps or Clinics; which is a shame, actually. But Coach Malecki has been doing his thing for the past several years under the cloak of darkness and publicity (self promotion); yet he has placed nearly 100 kids/players onto the College level because they 'signed up' for his "events"; etc. I would not be promoting this dude; nor his Clinics or Camps unless I felt in my heart of heart, he IS any HS or Middle School player should attend one of his Camps or Clinics? I just wouldn't!! But his background in BB is so tight and right.......it goes with the territory. Icemem BB is a solid Organization and Coach Todd Malecki is a REAL and EXPERIENCED teacher and coach of the Game. This upcoming event? Solid!!!!

Top Performers 16th Annual Icemen College Evaluation & Recruiting Day (Sat, Aug 17, Mt. SAC)

Tyler Harris 6’4, 25, W, Downey Gr8 glue guy with timely shots, rebounding and team play. Love his attitude and his work ethic.
Rayshaun White 5’11, 25, G, Bishop Amat Really tough, makes the right reads. Love his ability to guard. Shot has improved.
Taiwo Daramoia 6’8, 27, C, Bakersfield Christian Terrific athlete, love his footwork & balance. Should be a double double machine this year.
Sebastian Martinez 6’0, 25, PG, South Pasadena Has started coming into his own since confidence is growing. Plays at a good pace, made good decisions, and guarded well. Shot looks better.
Lawrence Sanford 6’2, 25, G, Vista Murrieta Fast twitch, athlete, that hits shots, can get to rim although settled for jumpers. Can take over a game. My highest recommendation.
Damien Crull 6’6, 27, F, Chaffey A Coaches son. You see the potential and effort. Liked his motor. I think with his footwork and mid range can really have a good year. Can rebound out of his area with his footwork & instincts.
Maxwell Gao 6’8, 25, F, Diamond Bar Plays amazing, then? Can really hit shots, rebounds, and defends. Has to be more aggressive. Has all the tools in the shed!
Steven Julio 6’1, 25, G, West Covina A spark plug, glue guy that does all those little things. Really impressed with his overall game.
Mahlik Wethers 6’0, 26, G, Murrieta Valley Only plays one way, Hard. Love how his confidence and aggression are really starting to come out.
Drew Minnear 5’9, 25, PG, Bakersfield Christian Perhaps one of the best point guards I’ve seen in a long time. SOLID. Doesn’t turn ball over, PNR nightmare as his probes and rim attacks put defender on heels. You gap him, 3 point shot. My highest recommendation.
Jack Madison 6’5, 25, F, South Pasadena Very consistent, not flashy or a me guy. Just very solid. Love his demeanor and style of play. As he gets stronger and handles improve. LOOKOUT.
Austin Willie 6’0, 25, PG, Upland A tough Upland player! Really strong with the rock. Made good decisions. Love how he guards.
Aiden Shaw 6’1, 28, PG, Bishop Amat Silky smooth with lots of creativity. As he gets stronger and in Coach Ertle program will be a star. My highest recommendation.
Augustine Youssef 6’0, 25, G, Desert Christian Might be the hardest worker in the gym. A good athlete that makes tough plays. Lateral quickness is only question mark. Hit’s shots. One of my favs.
Gor-El Zollicoffer 6’2, 25, G, Great Oak Down Hill drives with strong finishes, mid range and deep 3’s can do it all. Really vocal and strong. Has to guard larger players and is up to the task. Love this kid!
Jeremias Killebrew 6’2, 27, G, Bakersfield Christian, super tough, can really shoot the rock. Really good finisher. Very skilled. Plays Hard! My Highest Recommendation!
Grayson Sinek 6’2, 25, G, JSerra The biggest sleeper around. Finishes at basket. Hits shots. Defends, Rebounds. Super intelligent. High GPA. My Highest Recommendation.
Kelynn Mount 6’4, 27, F, Palm Springs Played hard. Rebounded extremely well. Active hands and very disruptive. Loved his tenacity. Tough as a $2 steak.
Parker Steffan 5’11, 25, PG, Murrieta Valley Super creative with ball. Plays at good pace, but sometimes must slow down and change pace. A PNR superstar. Love his composure. Active hands and good instincts. A little less bounce for the ounce and he’ll be fine.
Dylan Griffin, 6’4, 25, G, University City The surprise of the event. Literally was plugged in from warmups. On a mission this year! His drive game and length caused match-up problems. Can shoot over smaller guards and drive bigs. My Highest Recommendation.
Noa Edwards 6’3, 26, G, Arcadia So cagey. Makes hard plays look easy. Really confident, but not cocky, I like that. A 2nd team All Leaguer last year I think he is one of the best combo guards I’ve seen so far this year. My Highest Endorsement
Colton Gray 6’5, 25, F, Glendora A complete joy to watch. Makes gr8 decisions, rebounded well. I think in the right college program the sky’s the limit. Lefty that might get to 6’7. High academic. My Highest Recommendation.
Kobe Pietsch 6’4, 25, F, Yorba Linda What a gr8 kid. Does all the stuff that helps your team win. A coaches son. Just competed. Not flava flav flashy, but gets the job done. Keep an eye on him!
Tyron Grays 6’3, 26, G, Desert Hot Springs Super athletic lefty. Plays like a grown man and then will take a breather. When he’s on it’s lights out. I thought he caused matchup problems all day. Hit middies and rebounded well. On my radar!
Mateo Ingersoll 6’6, 26, F, Arcadia Flat out big year coming for this young man! Really athletic, bouncy, pull out all the adjectives. Love his game. Has to take over more. Can dominate inside too. On my radar!
William Young, Jr. 6’0, 24, PG, Littlerock A super smart pg that can run a team or get a bucket. Might have been the fastest kid in the gym. His skill level is really good. A coaches son. High Academic & my Highest Recommendation.
Jacob Arias 6’1, 25, G, South Pasadena Might not pass the eye test but let me tell you. A jack of all trades superstar. Tough, eager, coachable. Really impressed me. Love his ability to guard bigger players and stay with little jets. I like him and will be tracking him.

Cisco Munoz 6’0, 27, PG, Vista Murrieta Might be the cagiest guard I’ve seen in a long time. He is constantly scanning floor looking for mis matches or iso’s. Wanted to see him in more PNR but love his general leadership skills. Just be MORE vocal. Perhaps the best pull up & floater I’ve seen since my all everything POY/LPU guard Mark Eden. He has gotten stronger. My Highest Endorsement.
Rashaan Smith 6’5, 25, F, DaVinci Really played well in spurts. Sometimes in showcases you don’t get touches but he got put backs and rebounded. Love his length and how he attacked when he did get the ball. Keep an eye out for a rising LA City star!
Jorge Mota 6’1, 25, W, Warren What a consistent shooter. High release too. Really gets to right spots, catches with good footwork and hand prep. Love his baby face demeanor but will rip your heart out. I’m keeping an eye on him.
Dariel Bahamontes 6’4, 26, F/W, REV I really like this kid. A high academic that is a super athlete. Can get to rim and pipe it on you. Has good balance too. His ball skills are economical and effective. Sometimes straight to rim is best. Big time on my radar!
Elijah Sumi-Scruggs 6’4, 26, AISA Really plays at a good pace. Can slash you or pull up. I think he can squeak out a couple more boards a game. Nice skill set and really fun to watch play. On my radar!
Lincoln Dean 6’0, 25, G, LB Cabrillo A Moore league kid that really competes. Like his motor, but thought spacing on O sometimes affected his play. Bounce and shot are solid.
Trae Johnson 6’1, 27, G, Capo Valley Christian Really tough, I can see drive game has improved. Defended hard. Maybe settled for to many 3’s. I told him when you’re not hitting do something else to help your team. On my Radar!
Tyrese Butler 6’3, 26, G, Arcadia A real tough defender. High IQ. As his shot making % increases it will open up more options. Long, athletic, unafraid. Impressed and eager to see his improvement.
Nija Williams, 5’8, 25, G, Summit Can someone tell him he’s 5’8 and not 6’8. He got to rim, hit shots, and did small things to help his team win. Fun to watch. Coach Rome battle tested.
Gabe Guiterrez 5’11 25 PG, Bakersfield Christian Really good leadership skills. Guards the snot out of the ball. Had 3 ball line steals in the game I watched. My biggest enjoyment was watching him play. Motor is always on! My Highest Recommendation.

Best of the Rest: Deacon Botts, Eli Chavez, Chailyn Finley, Cash Gervin, Benjamin Makelela, RJ Waggoner, Shane Stanfield, Justin Blair
