Young Professionals of Murray The Murray-Calloway County Chamber of Commerce Young Professionals of Murray (YPM) group launched in 2015.

The Young Professionals of Murray is a Murray-Calloway County Chamber of Commerce group designed to foster professional growth and leadership development for emerging leaders aged 21-40. YPM provides professional leadership development opportunities and networking for Murray and Calloway County future leaders between the ages of 21-40. The group has monthly lunches at local restaurants to network

🌟 YPM Member Spotlight: Chandler Cohoon
📍 Licensed Agent and HR Director, The Murray Insurance Agency

"I think YPM is a wonderful outlet for young professionals to be able to network and help grow professionally in our community. "

Chandler is a Murray, Kentucky native, born and raised in the community she proudly serves. She earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Kentucky and a master’s degree from Murray State University. She serves on the Emerging Leaders Board for the Independent Insurance Agents of Kentucky, a member of the FRYSC Committee with Murray Independent School District and sits on the Board of Trustees at First United Methodist Church. Outside of work and community involvement, she stays busy with her two daughters, Greer (2) and Gracen (5). Her favorite hobby is traveling and making memories with her husband and family.

Last Friday, our Young Professionals group had the opportunity to go behind the scenes at Marshall Yards Gaming! 🎲🎲

From learning about the facility's operations and technology to hearing about the economic impact and career opportunities within the gaming and hospitality industry, attendees gained valuable insight into what it takes to run one of the region's newest entertainment destinations.

A huge thank you to the team at Marshall Yards Racing & Gaming for sharing their time, expertise, and behind the scenes look at their operation. Experiences like these help our young professionals connect with local industries, expand their knowledge, and build relationships throughout our community.

"I joined YPM to connect with peers at a similar career stage and gain insight into what it takes to become an effective leader. I enjoy meeting new people, learning about their roles, and understanding how they achieve success. I value the opportunity to share experiences, celebrate accomplishments, and learn from challenges together."

Bianca enjoys painting and creative projects, which carry over into her role at the bank where she helps design campaign trackers and engaging ways to showcase work. Outside of work, she loves reading and spending time with family and friends. She also enjoys supporting her younger sister as she navigates college.

We enjoyed hearing from Derek Barner, CPA with ATA Advisory, LLC as he shared more about what ATA does and his personal journey to becoming an accountant. His insight and experiences made for a great discussion and everyone left with a better understanding of the wide range of services his office provides. 📊👏

🌟 YPM Member Spotlight: Derek Barner
📍 Senior Manager, ATA

"I joined YPM to build new relationships within the Murray community. Though still relatively new to the organization, I have enjoyed connecting with other young professionals."

Derek has been with the firm since 2013. After working in the Union City and Martin offices, he began managing the Murray location in October 2025. He is a CPA licensed in both Tennessee and Kentucky. His wife is a speech language pathologist and Murray State alum. He has three children: twin six year old daughters and a two year old son. He is an avid outdoorsman and golfer.

🌟 YPM Member Spotlight: Kailey Starks
📍 Owner, Miss Kailey's Dance Studio

"I joined YPM to network, make new friends, and hopefully make more of an impact in our community!"

Kailey began performing at a young age and grew up immersed in the performing arts—dance, music, singing, and acting. Her mom was a dance studio owner too, which naturally led her into teaching through high school and into college.
Now a certified and professionally affiliated dance educator (including Acrobatic Arts, Dance Educators of America, the Chicago National Association of Dance Masters, and more), she continues to train and travel with her students for conventions, competitions, and performance opportunities nationwide. Her mission is to create an exciting, safe space where every dancer feels confident to shine. When she's not in the studio, she is spending time with her husband and three kiddos.
