We will be talking about our campaign to support the Merryman House, voter registration and education events, planning some of events in 2027 and more!! Hope to see you there! West KY NOW president Christine Lindner spoke to Zoe Lewis from WPSD Local 6 about the results from a recent study by Q***r Kentucky highlighting the challenges faced by LGBTQ+ individuals accessing health care services in our region. Christine spoke about the advocacy work of West KY NOW to ensure that LGBTQ+ individuals have the right to access these services, but also that those rights are protected. Highlighting the chapter’s educational work, Christine amplified the services of groups like LivWell CHS who provide free HIV testing in our region and OutFit Inc. who identify affirming LGBTQ+ businesses and services in our region.

“Along with making sure politicians are ensuring people’s rights, Lindner said it’s important to build others up and to let people know it’s a safe space.
‘When we work to build up the most marginalized community in our community, everybody benefits,’ Lindner said.”

Are you prepared to vote in the General Elections 2026?
For those in Kentucky, the last day to register to vote is Monday, October 5! Now is a great time to register for the first time, update your address if you moved, or to check your status (to make sure that you have not been removed from the voter rolls!) Don’t forget that college students can register to vote in their hometown or their college town! You can do all of this at https://vrsws.sos.ky.gov/ovrweb/

West KY NOW president, Christine Lindner, was interviewed for this article, which highlighted the results of a recent study about LGBTQ+ health. National Organization for Women (NOW)

In Western Kentucky, 58% of LGBTQ+ people have no regular healthcare provider. Nearly 70% have never been tested for HIV. And 30% have been turned away by a provider because of who they are.

That's not a gap. That's a crisis.

New data from our 2025 Community Health Survey is out, and the picture it paints of Western Kentucky is stark. Nick Fulton talked to the organizers and care providers working to change it.
