What happens when the life you’ve been living finally becomes too heavy to carry?
For Tony Edkins, the turning point came in an unexpected place: behind bars.
After years of alcohol and drug use, arrests, loss, and inner turmoil, Tony found himself in a jail cell reading a Bible he initially didn’t even want to pick up. Then he came across the words, “Come to me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”
For someone who says he had spent most of his life living with chaos in his head, the promise of “rest for my soul” stopped him in his tracks.
Tony’s story didn’t end in that cell. It became the beginning of a journey toward faith, recovery, purpose, and more than two decades of sobriety.
