Chinook Enterprises is a Social Enterprise. Our mission is to support full participation in community life for people with disabilities or other barriers.

Chinook is where Abilities meet Opportunities. Chinook Enterprises is a social enterprise – we are a non-profit designed to operate as a business, but with a social mission: Supporting full participation in community life for people with disabilities or other barriers. Full participation must start with successful employment. We believe that the need to be connected with one’s community and to be a responsible citizen is at the core of each person. Each of us can relate to the importance of having a place to contribute…to feel valued… and for most of us, that means a job. For many people with disabilities, finding that place can be challenging. Barriers to employment success are varied and include inadequate transportation, lack of experience, communication challenges, community acceptance and more. With help and support, these barriers can be minimized and dreams realized.

A fresh space and a great reason to celebrate! 🎉 🍽️

Last week, Skagit Regional Health (Skagit Valley Hospital) welcomed the community for an open house unveiling the newly remodeled kitchen in Food Services. We loved getting a look at the updated space and celebrating alongside some familiar faces!

Several Chinook customers are part of the Food Services team, and it was especially meaningful to see them in their workplace alongside their Employment Specialists and Karla Dills, Regional Director of Food Services and a member of Chinook’s Board of Directors. 💙

Partnerships like this show the impact of inclusive employment and what’s possible when local employers create opportunities for people to contribute, grow, and be part of a team.

Brittany is celebrating her 8 year anniversary with Chinook, and she's made an impact across multiple areas of our Production team. Today, she's known for the excellent work she does in the Cut Shop, where she helps keep projects moving and ensures quality results every day.

One of Brittany's greatest strengths is her willingness to share her knowledge with others. Whether she's training new employees on equipment, showing teammates how to complete a task, or helping keep operations running smoothly, she's always ready to lend her expertise.

Welcome to Chinook, Remi! 👋💙

Remi joins our Community Employment Services team as our newest Employment Specialist, bringing a background that connects closely with our mission. After growing up in Northern California, Remi attended Western Washington University (WWU), studying urban planning and critical disability studies. While at WWU, Remi also co-founded and coordinated the Disabled Peer Mentorship Program.

Outside of work, Remi enjoys crafts, audiobooks, spending time outdoors, visiting family, and a good iced tea. 🧶📚🧋

We’re excited to have Remi on the team and can’t wait to see the experience, perspective, and passion Remi brings to supporting our customers and community!

He's known for his strong work ethic, initiative, and problem-solving skills, along with a commitment to learning new skills and embracing feedback. Learning, planning, and connecting with others in the field made for a great (CEA) Conference! 💡🤝

Last week, members of the Chinook team had the opportunity to explore how AI is changing the way we work, think ahead and plan for the years to come, and collaborate in small groups to tackle challenges and brainstorm solutions for different areas of our programs.

Events like this give us a chance to step outside our day-to-day work, learn from others, share ideas, and bring fresh thinking back to Chinook. We’re excited to put some of that inspiration into action! 💙✨
