Chinook Enterprises is a social enterprise โ€“ we are a non-profit designed to operate as a business, but with a social mission: Supporting full participation in community life for people with disabilities or other barriers. Full participation must start with successful employment. We believe that the need to be connected with oneโ€™s community and to be

a responsible citizen is at the core of each person. Each of us can relate to the importance of having a place to contributeโ€ฆto feel valuedโ€ฆ and for most of us, that means a job. For many people with disabilities, finding that place can be challenging. Barriers to employment success are varied and include inadequate transportation, lack of experience, communication challenges, community acceptance and more. With help and support, these barriers can be minimized and dreams realized.

Let's give a big round of applause to Heidi our very own Community Employment Services Quality Assurance Coordinator and a 2026 graduate of Leadership Skagit ๐Ÿฅณ Over the past 9 months, Heidi has been working tirelessly on her amazing "River of Leaders" project in partnership with The Children's Museum of Skagit County's Help Me Grow program, bringing "Andi" the Ambulance to life while balancing the demands of her full-time job. We recently learned about a group of mosaic artists whose workshop has been closed, leaving many without the opportunity to continue their work. Like Chinook, their focus has always been about more than the work itself. Itโ€™s about dignity, independence, and the sense of pride that comes from creating something meaningful.

While our paths look different, those values feel familiar. Access to meaningful work matters, no matter where you are in the world.
