One of the biggest things many veterans lose after service is the connection to other veterans. The structure changes. The mission changes. Life changes. Sometimes we slowly drift into isolation without even realizing it.

That’s why Serving Those Who Served (STWS) was created — to rebuild that connection one veteran at a time. Veteran to veteran. Conversation by conversation.

Sometimes the most powerful thing we can do is sit across from another veteran who understands the language, the culture, the struggles, and remind each other that we are not alone in this fight called life.

Whether you’re struggling, thriving, transitioning, in recovery, or just looking for your tribe again — there’s a seat for you here.

📍 STWS Moncks Corner — Wednesdays at 6PM
📍 STWS Mount Pleasant — Thursdays at 6:30PM

Dads… we know you carry a lot.

The stress.
The worry.
Trying to hold it all together for your family.

When your child is struggling with substance use, it can feel like you’re fighting a battle nobody sees.

That’s why we created DAD2DAD—a space where fathers can show up, talk real, and support each other through it.

No judgment. No pressure.
Just dads who understand.

Being a mom to someone struggling with substance use can feel like a weight you carry alone.

But you’re not alone. Not here.

Our Mother’s Gathering in Moncks Corner is a place where moms come together—not because they have it all figured out… but because they understand.

Memorial Day Office Update

WakeUp Carolina will be closed Monday, May 25th in observance of Memorial Day as we honor the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country. Memorial Day is more than a long weekend — it is a time to remember the sacrifices made by those who never made it home and the families who continue to carry that loss every day.

🌺 The red poppy became the symbol of remembrance after World War I, inspired by the poem In Flanders Fields, where poppies grew among the graves of fallen soldiers. Today, the poppy reminds us that freedom came at a cost paid by generations before us.

“We wear the poppy not just to remember the fallen,
but to remind ourselves to live lives worthy of their sacrifice.”

📍 Meeting Updates for Monday, May 25th:
• Our Mount Pleasant SMART Recovery meeting will be held via Zoom only
• Our Moncks Corner Main Street All-Recovery meeting will continue as scheduled in the office

From all of us at WakeUp Carolina, thank you to all Gold Star families, veterans, and those who continue to serve. Please take a moment this Memorial Day to remember the fallen. 🇺🇸

Thursday at the Moncks Corner Farmers Market 🇺🇸

Big thanks to the Moncks Corner Farmers Market for letting WakeUp Carolina come out this week instead of next Thursday due to Memorial Day weekend. We had some amazing conversations with community members, shared resources, raised awareness, and reminded people that recovery and support are alive and well in our community.

One conversation at a time… that’s how change happens. Grateful for every person that stopped by the table to ask questions, share their story, or simply say hello.

We’re proud to continue building connections, spreading hope, and showing the community that nobody has to walk this road alone. ❤️

Big thanks to everyone who came out to today’s Community Outreach Event in Moncks Corner! 💚

WakeUp Carolina is always grateful for opportunities like this to connect with our community, meet local families, and help educate and raise awareness about recovery, mental health, harm reduction, and available resources. Events like these remind us how important community connection truly is.

Thank you to all the organizers, local leaders, providers, and community members who made today such a welcoming and positive event. Together we continue building stronger, healthier communities—one conversation at a time. ❤️

Big thank you to the James Island community for coming out and joining us for our FREE Narcan Administration & Overdose Prevention Training this week. Every person who attends these trainings becomes another potential life saver in our community. ❤️

We also want to give a huge shoutout to our amazing partners for helping make this event possible:
• Charleston Center
• Charleston County Sheriff’s Office
• Town of James Island

This is what community partnership looks like — people coming together to educate, support, and protect one another. Special thanks to everyone who asked questions, shared experiences, and took the time to learn how to respond during an overdose emergency. You never know when this knowledge could save a friend, family member, neighbor, or even a stranger.

If your organization, business, church, or community group would like to host a Narcan training, please reach out to us. We are always willing to help spread awareness and provide education throughout the Lowcountry.
