Our Story
In 2012, Kristen Machado, MA, LPC, NCC founded the Charleston Psychodynamic Counseling Association. After a year building up community within Charleston, she passed along the association to Lisa Collins, MA, LPC, NCC and Stacy Lawrence, MEd, LPC, NCC to take over while Kristen was away in New Orleans at a continuing education program to deepen her knowledge and training of Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy through the New Orleans-Birmingham Psychoanalytic Center.
Kristen is now back in Charleston working in private practice as a psychoanalytic counselor is continuing her program long distance. After experiencing the benefit of the center in New Orleans, the Charleston Psychodynamic Counseling Association decided to officially change their name with a whole new level of passion for bringing together a community of clinicians to further develop, educate, and train psychoanalytic thought.
