Mark your calendars and get ready to join us at the library for another awesome Something New Saturday here at the library. This time around, we'll be joined by the amazing talent behind a favorite local place. You may have heard of it: The Timberlake Playhouse! They will be giving us a behind-the-scenes look at the wonderful productions they make for us. From directing, acting, singing, dancing (choreography), to stage management, lighting, sound, and the pit band that makes the music live for our ears. There is a lot that goes into the shows we've all come to love and enjoy. Join us at the library Saturday, September 26th at 10 am for a Something New Saturday that will knock your socks off! Join us this Saturday at 1pm for another amazing event held by the Friends of the Library here at the Mount Carroll Library. In this event, we will be joined by Dr. Stephen Harrick as he discusses Comic Book Culture and Illinois: A Living History of how these two seemingly different topics are actually more alike and hand-in-hand than we may think. Join us for this inspiring event and get a comic to take home with you! This event is completely FREE and open to the public (much like the comics we read in the newspapers haha). Mark your calendars for an interesting history lecture from Highland Community College on the assassination of President James Garfield. From the shooting on the morning of July 2nd, 1881, to his death on September 19th. Biographies of Garfield and the assassin Charles Guiteau (who grew up in Freeport, IL), US culture, medical treatment, and the capture, trial, and ex*****on of Guiteau will be explored. Please register for this FREE event. This event will take place on Thursday, September 24th from 5pm to 6:30pm. We hope to see you there!
