This is no joke. Now is the time to be prepared. Follow US National Weather Service Central Illinois and Meteorologist Chris Yates for updates.

The National Weather Service has a rare level 5 out of 6 risk for wind tonight.

This is the highest we’ve ever seen it in IL since starting this 10 years ago. This is a very rare probability.

This means there’s nearly a 3 in 4 chance of damaging winds tonight near/in your town. Very rare and shows how high of a ceiling this event has.

I will be hosting a livestream on FB and WMBD+ to discuss this afternoon's severe weather risk and to cover any storms approaching the region.

We're not expecting things to really ramp up until 3 pm, so we'll likely start another stream around then.

Upgrade to a level 4 out of 5 risk for the Peoria area and points north. This was driven due to the possibility of multiple, strong tornadoes. The first wave of storms will especially target the north and west part of the area later this morning into the afternoon (10 a.m. to 2 p.m.), with the main round for everyone 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.
