Lamoille County Mental Health Services

Lamoille County Mental Health Services LCMHS is a nonprofit organization providing quality developmental and mental health services to the Lamoille Valley area.

Lamoille County Mental Health Services (LCMHS) is one of the Community Mental Health Designated Agencies in Vermont charged with the responsibility of providing comprehensive community mental health, developmental, substance abuse and related services to citizens of Lamoille Valley. Our agency, a non-profit organization founded in 1966, provides a range of services to over 1.000 individuals each y

Those living in their homes generally are experiencing mild difficulty with adjustment to the problems of daily living, such as the loss of a loved one, divorce, or the problems associated with aging. Our services include individual, couples, family and group therapy, medication therapy and support, emergency and crisis support, developmental services, day treatment, housing, vocational, housing, and outreach services to individuals, families, and schools. Our services are organized under four divisions. The divisions and the services they provide are:

1. Behavioral Health (Adult) programs offer psychiatry, case management, Adult Outpatient (AOP), Community Rehabilitation and Treatment (CRT), employment support, and other services in our office, in the community, and in our consumers’ homes. Our consumers include individuals across all social and economic lines and come to us with a wide range of needs. The Community Rehabilitation & Treatment Program provides specific services to the chronically mentally ill. This program provides counseling, community support, case management, housing developments and supports, group home, vocational, club house, psychiatric, medication supports and 24 hour crisis services.

2. The Children, Youth and Family Services Division provides wrap-around, respite, case management, intensive family based, play therapy, individual therapy, family therapy, group therapy, supportive counseling, basic living and social skill teaching, assessments, school based, in-home, and community-based services to individuals under the age of eighteen or until the age of 21 for those individuals on an Individual Educational Plan. The LCMHS Redwood Program provides one-on-one support in local schools for children with emotional or behavioral issues or disorders and development disabilities or delays. We support over 50 students throughout Lamoille and Orleans Counties.

3. The Developmental Services Division provides services for individuals with a developmental disability. This program offers information and referral, assessment, vocational, psychiatric, counseling, respite, flexible family funding, liaison, case management, personal, social, community support, living support and host family services.

4. The Emergency Service Team insures that all appropriate services are available twenty-four hours a day and seven days a week. Specifically, our services include specialized care for individuals, their families, and consultation services to other area caregivers. It includes the Mobile Crisis Team, our Alcohol and Substance Awareness Program (ASAP), and Oasis House.

We hear “stop and smell the roses,” but maybe it’s really about noticing what’s around us — a quiet moment, fresh air, a walk outside, or an apple tree in bloom. Small moments count too.🌹

Amy, our Chief HR and Operations Officer, reminds us that taking a moment to slow down and appreciate the little things can make a meaningful difference during Mental Health Awareness Month.💚

Exciting News! LCMHS has been awarded a $439,000 stabilization grant from the State of Vermont. This continues to put LCMHS on the path to long-term financial stability and sustainability and allows us to stay focused on what matters most: providing high-quality mental health care to the individuals and families who count on us every day.
