HAPPY TAILS: MEET GARY

Found living inside the wall and floor of a trailer home with his four siblings, Gary got a second chance when he came to NCAL and entered foster care while he waited to grow big enough for surgery.

The plan was for Gary to return to the shelter after recovery.

That plan lasted about five minutes.

Despite claims that the family already had enough animals (3 cats, 4 dogs, 30+ chickens, 3 goats, 2 fish tanks, and a gecko named Todd), Gary worked his magic and won everyone over.

Today, Gary is officially home for good. ❤️

We think the lesson here is simple: when the right animal comes along, there's always room for one more.

Congratulations to Gary and his family, and thank you to all of our incredible foster families who open their homes and hearts to animals in need.

Our 3-legged friend Novel had a swell time visiting the folks at The Woodlands at Stowe this morning. One of our shelter animals heads there for a visit once a month, and this month, the visit was extra special. You see, one of the staff at the Woodlands met Novel and fell in love. When we opened for adoptions this afternoon, they came and adopted her. How sweet is that 😍

🌞 Summer Donation Update 🌞

As many of you are cleaning out your houses, garages, and storage spaces for the summer, we want to thank you for thinking of our shelter and the animals in our care. Your generosity means so much to us!

At this time, we are only able to accept:

✅ Small amounts of bath towels and hand towels in good condition (no rips or tears, and please no large amounts! We can't keep up with the laundry!)
✅ Dog and cat crates/carriers in good condition (no rust, working doors)
✅ Unused or like-new toys
✅ Unused or like-new collars and leashes
✅ Unopened bags of food, canned food, treats

To help us manage our limited storage space, please leave the following items at home:

❌ Animal clothing
❌ Dog beds
❌ Pillows, sheets, blankets
❌ Medicinal items
❌ Other miscellaneous household items (food bowls, litter boxes, etc..)

Donations can be dropped off 24/7 in our glass foyer using the green donation bin.

We are incredibly grateful for the continued support of our community. Every donation helps us provide comfort and care to the animals who need us most. Thank you for understanding our current needs and for always supporting the animals in our care. ❤️🐶🐱

THANK YOU. 💛

We are still feeling grateful after an incredible Open House this past weekend.

Hundreds of supporters, volunteers, adopters, sponsors, partners, board members, and animal lovers joined us to celebrate the animals and the community that makes our work possible. Together, you helped raise more than $22,000 to support North Country Animal League's mission—exceeding our goal and helping ensure that animals in need continue to receive the care, compassion, and second chances they deserve.

The cherry on top? Six animals found their new families during the event. By the end of the day, four cats and two dogs had traded their shelter beds for loving homes of their own.

To everyone who attended, volunteered, donated, sponsored, purchased raffle tickets, shared our posts, or simply cheered us on—thank you. We couldn't do this without you.

Enjoy a few of our favorite moments from the day. 📸🐾

We’re feeling incredibly grateful this week!

Last week, North Country Animal League had the honor of presenting to the 100 Women Who Care Lamoille County alongside two other outstanding organizations, The Current and Salvation Farms.

We are thrilled to have been selected for the group's second award, which comes with a donation of nearly $4,000 to support animals and families in our community.

A huge congratulations to our friends at Salvation Farms for receiving the top award, and thank you to everyone who voted for NCAL. We are honored by your support and inspired to be part of a community that believes in helping local nonprofits thrive.

If you’re looking for a simple and meaningful way to make a real impact close to home, we encourage you to learn more about 100 Women Who Care Lamoille County. Their collective giving model is making a difference for organizations across our region, and we are grateful to have been part of it.

Thank you for helping us create a more compassionate community for animals and the people who love them. ❤️🐾
