When Lauren reflects on her time at DMC, lots of laughter and joy are the themes that keep resurfacing. There were meaningful conversations, impressive programs, and unforgettable partnerships. There were also countless moments filled with joy, shared celebrations, inside jokes, and memories that will continue to bring smiles for years to come. Those moments are just as much a part of her legacy as any project she completed.

Lauren has shown us that meaningful work and genuine fun can go hand in hand. She has reminded us that relationships are at the center of everything we do, and that investing in people creates lasting change.

We are excited to see where her next chapter leads and grateful for the years she shared with us. Lauren, thank you for your passion, your leadership, your kindness, and your unwavering belief in the people and communities of Alabama. You have made DMC stronger, inspired those around you, and left a legacy that will continue to grow long after you have turned the page to your next adventure. We cannot wait to see all that you accomplish next. You will be missed!🩵

"At a time when many people feel disconnected from public life and faith in democracy is declining, ‘What’s Next, America?’ helps communities come together, discuss the issues that matter most, and turn ideas into action. It’s built on a simple belief: democracy is strongest when people have the confidence, skills, and opportunities to shape the future of their communities.” ~ Cristin Brawner, executive director, National Issues Forums Institute

We could not agree more, Cristin! As a proud partner in this new initiative, the DMC stands ready to hold these thoughtfully framed forums throughout our state. What's Next, Alabama? Let's find out together!

MONTEVALLO, Ala. — Before residents ever discussed housing, jobs or downtown development, they started with a simpler question: What makes Montevallo worth celebrating? Participants scribbled answers on notecards: the people, the small-town atmosphere, the local organizations and businesses that m...

Look at those smiles! 🩵We had a wonderful board retreat last week. The DMC board and staff warmly welcomed our two new board members, Jeremy Arthur and Dorothy Walker, and all shared meaningful stories about their journeys with DMC and their hopes for growth and intentional service in communities across Alabama.

We also enjoyed a special visit from Sherri Goudy of CCCD (Center for Citizenship Community and Democracy) who shared exciting new ventures from Dr. Mathews, Natalie Steed shared updates on celebrations happening across the state for America’s 250th, and Kristin Boggs shared some insights about the APSTI (Alabama Public Service Training Initiative) program and the great things ahead!

Thank you everyone for such a great day! Enjoy some awesome 📸
