'Anakim' (Dr. R.E. Kleinsorge, 1934) is a luminous light purple that just glows across the garden. Great grower and bloomer for me. I'm quite pleased with this year's photos of it. -Mike

'Alpine Glow' (Dr. R.E. Kleinsorge, 1945) This one put on a great show this year. Loads of bright cheerful flowers. It has always been a good grower for me, and a reliable bloomer. -MIke

'Allure' (Olive Murrell, 1927) This sweet little diploid has long been a favorite of mine. It has always been a slow grower and shy bloomer here, but the soft color tones are so pretty I give it the time it needs to do its thing. Had a couple of lovely stalks this year. Judging by the wiki photos not many folks are growing it. -Mike

'Alline Rogers' (Dr. R.E. Kleinsorge, 1950) This variety has never performed very well for me, but every few years I get to see it. This year it put on a wonderful show on two big stalks and the flowers were large and lovely, if a bit lacking in form. I love the pattern at the hafts. -Mike

I always love to see 'Aliquippa' (C.H. Hall, 1924) blooming. It should be classed among the novelty irises IMO. At the end of the bloom season, if we get some warm temps, it goes wonky and often becomes a flattie in its bloom habit. A charming quirkiness. -Mike

Now that bloom season is nearly over in my garden I thought it would be a good time to start my annual review of 'What bloomed in Mike's Garden'. We'll start with the stunning ''Acorn' (Lerton Ho**er, 1966). This is in one of my focused collections I call the Kleinsorge Kids. It is a child of Dr. Kleinsorge's 'Toast An' Honey' crossed with 'Waxing Moon'. The color is a rich brown infused with red. It put on a great show this year and is one of my favorites. -Mike
