This is a fun noid. Unknown where it originated but my source got it from someone in Missouri many years ago. It is a novelty with six standards over the usual three falls, which is so fun. The color is amazing. It's been a good grower and bloomer so far. -Mike

This is on of my most favorite noids. I call it Wylee's bicolor, and its been in my garden for decades no. It is an IB in size but blooms with the TBs. I love its colors and the striped falls. A really good performer. An expert I know sent me 'Willow Grove' to grow alongside it but all three starts of it died before I could compare them. I know it goes back at least to the 1940s, but is likely older. -Mike

This little cutie has long been a favorite of mine. A very early blooming dwarf yellow amoena, it is so fresh and pretty blooming alongside the daffodils. It only has a single bloom on each 6-9 inch stem, but it puts out lots of them over a two week period. Grows like a w**d. I used to grow Caparne's 'The Bride' and it is identical to that one except for the coloration. None of his listed varieties match it tho. -Mike

This one is garden-named Black Vanilla because the fragrance is just so so good. Always makes me think of fresh baked goods. A few of us experts think it may be 'Geo. J. Tribolet', but we cannot verify it, so a noid it remains. I've had it for decades and it is a great grower and bloomer. The fragrance is the real attractant tho. -Mike

Like many of us collectors of the old stuff, I have several noids that I keep around just because I love them. I call this one Arlyn's varg(iegata). A fellow HIPSter sent it to me many years ago to see if i knew what it was and I just fell in love with it. It is unlike any diploid variegata I have ever grown. While the flower is the typical size and pattern, the height on this is VERY different, easily topping three feet. I've never seen a variegata this tall until the tetraploids hit the market. It is so bright and so beautiful and it really shines across the garden. Bees love it too. -Mike

'Zaharoon' (W. R. D***s, 1927) This one doesn't have the greatest form, and the colors are washy and often muddy. But somehow it always charms me and ends up staying for another year. Great grower and bloomer. This ends the show of my named iris varieties that bloomed in my garden this year. I have some noids and garden shots I'll share over this coming week and then we'll take a break. I hope you have enjoyed the series. -Mike

'Yellow Moon' (Grace Sturtevant, 1923) This is another of the GG irises I got from the Merian Garten trade. So nice to have this one back in the US. I was amazed by how vigorous a grower and bloomer it is. In just two years it made a huge clump and sent up a dozen or more bloom stalks. The flowers are beautifully formed and so pretty. They really lit up the garden. On the short side so needs to be at the front of the border. One of Miss Sturtevant's best, IMO. -Mike

'Wasatch Chief' (R. B. Gorham, 1952) A very nice pink blend that gives different color tones depending on the light. Tall stalks with big flower. Has been a great grower for me so far. -Mike
