'Momauguin' (Ruth Stephenson, 1964) This one is new for me and it really put on the show. The red-black falls are very velvety and the smokey red standards and gold heart just burn like an ember in the sunshine. I am already crazy about it. -Mike

'Mission Trails' (Mary Ellen Knopf, 1958) Another of my Kleinsorge Kids set. Grandparents on one side are 'Mexico' X 'To***co Road' thru 'Inca Chief'. A soft lilac blend that is an excellent grower and bloomer for me. -Mike

'Miss Aravilla' (H.P. Sass, 1936) One of the brightest in the garden. The rich gold and red color tones just glow and really grab the eye. A long time favorite of mine and such a good grower and bloomer. -Mike

'Michelangelo' (National Iris Gardens, 1936) One of the few varieties by Howard W**d left to us. I love the odd color tone. Sort of a smokey purple with old gold veining at the hafts. Growth and bloom are moderate. An old favorite of mine. -Mike

'Mexico' (Dr. R.E. Kleinsorge, 1943) This would be classed as a BB today. It is on the short side for a TB. Wonderful rich color tones make for a lively fiesta of a flower. This one was behind many of the doctor's later introductions. Sadly it is not the strongest grower or bloomer. It did a good show this year tho. -Mike

'Melted Chocolate' (Merle Daling, 1977) One of my most favorite varieties that I am surprised is not more widely grown. The color is a rich red-brown with some gold at the heart, and it is a great grower and reliable bloomer. The blooms are held high and have a lovely form and flare, with some light ruffling. I've sent it to many gardens over the years. I hope others are enjoying it as much as I do. -Mike

'May Allison' (Mary Allison, 1920) One of my favorite varieties. The style crests and anthers all turned into extra standards or petaloids. In interesting novelty iris. It is also a sport of 'Celeste, adding another level of interest and rarity to it. The pale blue color is so pleasing and it is a great grower and bloomer. Is anyone else growing this sweet little diploid? -Mike

'Mary Barnett' (Mrs. M. A. Cumbler, 1926) The beard really lights this bloom up. On the shorter side for a TB, but it is a very good grower and reliable bloomer for me. -Mike
