This page is used by the Rensselaer Club of New Jersey (RCNJ) to let RPI alumni in NJ know about ongoing professional, educational and fun events.

This Page is used to inform RPI alumni in New Jersey of numerous events organized by members of the Renssaelaer Club of New Jersey Leadership Committee. The committee meets monthly, rotating through Oradell, Livingston and Iselin. You may come in person or join by telephone. Anyone may join the committee or contribute ideas and feedback at a meeting or through this Page. Many of the events were made possible by alumni who set up a behind the scenes tour of a facility they work in. If you have any ideas, please let us know.

Our October meeting last night was unbe-leaf-able! We both planned and plant-exchanged over dinner and with good company.

A special thank you to the Barnyard and Carriage House in Totowa for being a wonderful host, to everyone who shared their plants with us, and to Dr. Eric Ledet, Director of RPI’s Severino Center for Technological Entrepreneurship, who fern-ished us with a talk about the Severino Center and all of the innovation activities happening at RPI!

Join RCNJ on Tuesday, October 6th at our October Activity Planning Meeting, where we’ll plan events and activities for the rest of this year and beyond over dinner at The Barnyard and Carriage House in Totowa.

Dr. Eric Ledet, Director of RPI’s Severino Center for Technological Entrepreneurship, will be joining us, and we’ll learn about the great ideas, innovations and ventures taking place at RPI.

Another reason to join: our annual plant exchange Whether or not you come with plants to share, you’ll get to pick some to bring home!

RCNJ events and activities, entrepreneurship and innovation, and house plants all mean this meeting is fertile ground for great things to take root! 🪴

Join RCNJ on Sunday, October 4th as Gotham FC, the reigning NWSL ⚽ champions, take on Angel City FC in a nationally televised matchup at Sports Illustrated Stadium in Harrison, NJ.

Gotham is competing for its third league title in four years, and Angel City brings one of the league’s most visible fan bases and West Coast energy, making this a compelling contest to watch.

Tickets are $35 in section 126 and our group of 20 will have the special opportunity to take a photo with the team after the game. We'll reconvene at Joia down the street to gather for post-game food and drinks.

What fun we had last night learning about going "back to school" at "Degrees of Freedom" Panel 3: Back to School-Academia! 🎒📚👩‍🏫

Bob, Dave, Erica and Ed summarized their varied, accomplished and fascinating career paths, highlighted the importance of balancing service with research and teaching, and explained the impact AI has had on their work. They also described the roles that mentorship, randomness and RPI had in their careers, shared candid stories on unforgettable students, and provided practical advice for anyone considering careers like theirs.

We had an exceptionally beautiful day for baseball yesterday, with a little bit of everything you could want: solid pitching, a tight game until late, small ball and power, and of course, a win! ⚾

Students and alumni! Considering graduate school, or a career in research and academia?

Join RCNJ on Wednesday, September 16th for the third of our speaker series, “Degrees of Freedom,” where we’ll spotlight accomplished RPI alumni in the New Jersey area, one career phase at a time!

Our third panel is entitled “Back to School-Academia,” and focuses on local RPI alumni whose paths lead them back to where it started: on campus, in lecture halls and labs. They’ll discuss their careers since RPI, the causes and effects of industry experience they’ve had, and key decisions they’ve made along the way. Then you’ll have an opportunity to ask questions and discuss your own paths with them and fellow alumni.
