Fairview Fire & Rescue extends our deepest condolences to the family, friends, brothers and sisters of the Durham Fire Department following the tragic line-of-duty death of one of their firefighters.

A firefighter made the ultimate sacrifice while serving others and searching for victims during this morning’s incident. Their courage, dedication, and commitment to protecting their community will not be forgotten.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and loved ones during this unimaginable time. We also stand with the entire Durham Fire Department and are praying for the two firefighters who were injured and are expected to make full recoveries.

From one fire family to another, Fairview Fire & Rescue stands with you.

🇺🇸 Thank you for your service & sacrifice. 🚒

Rest easy.

Be prepared for possible bad weather today

This afternoon and evening we will be under a threat of severe weather, mainly in the form of damaging winds or hail of quarter size or larger, but a tornado cannot be ruled out.

Had a great training with Unionville Volunteer Fire Department at McGee Airport. We learned about the aircraft, airport operations, and what to expect during emergency situations. Huge thanks to Greg Huntley for making this possible!

Please note the water restrictions put in place today

Important Update: Union County is moving to Stage 2 of our Water Shortage Response Plan, effective today. We haven’t been in Stage 2 since 2009.

What does this mean for Union County Water customers?

💧Irrigation use is now limited to no more than two days per week and certain hours. Customers who use spray irrigation systems need to adjust their system schedules and follow the guidance at https://ucgov.info/4nygw9S.

🚗 No personal car washing, except at commercial car washes.

🛟 No filling of new pools or fountains, except to support aquatic life.

Stage 2 also implements higher rates for certain customers, including residential customers with significantly high usage of 10,000 gallons per month or more. To reduce overall water consumption, we’re asking everyone to conserve water when possible. Take shorter showers, fix leaky fixtures quickly, and reduce outdoor water usage – especially after a rare rainy day.

Learn more about Stage 2 and view ways to conserve water: https://ucgov.info/4dhHSw4
