Poly Paws Rescue and Sanctuary

Let's take a moment and celebrate the cat that is the namesake of the rescue. Finch is a polydactyl cat (more than 5 toes on his paws). I got him the day before the pandemic shutdown in March of 2020. He was a blessing in disguise and is my emotional support animal. His calm, loving nature has helped many a kitten learn what it was like to live with other cats. He even adopted Jalapeno from Foxy's first litter, which is how she came to be a permanent part of my personal pet group. So, let's celebrate this polydactyl/ poly pawed love bug who gave us our name, Poly Paws.

My friends, I must beg you to listen about cats once more.
It's an urban myth that most shelters restrict black cat adoptions due to people wanting to sacrifice them. Shelter Animals Count, which collects shelter data nationally, addressed this directly in 2024. They found that there is no reliable data that black cats are targeted for ritual abuse around Halloween. Best Friends had been finding the same results for years. Shelters have historically acted on the rumor, but there are no statistics, studies, or documented patterns that Halloween adoptions pose special danger to black cats. Animal welfare groups are now arguing that this rumor actually HURTS black cats' chances of adoption. So, please stop spreading this rumor and lowering your chances of finding good homes for black cats. If you would like any of the articles, please ask, and I will send them to you.

Please help Kane's parents with their ER bill. Kane is finally home, but we're waiting on some tests that were sent out. We here at at PPRS are so glad that he is finally home.

Kane, Axel, and Gyrth are off to their new homes. We'll miss them terribly, but we know they will thrive in their new homes.

Today is the last day in the rescue for 3 of Foxy's final litter. Kane, Axel, and Gyrth will meet their new parents tomorrow. It's bittersweet when you have raised them from their first day of life. But I know for a fact that their new mommies and daddies will love and care for them as we have. Pictures forthcoming of the exchange tomorrow.

If everyone on my feed could give $1-$2 then we could support food, litter, and care for the cats in our rescue. We've been paying out of pocket for everything and support would greatly help the rescue out. Every little bit helps.

The chaos goblin that is Arielle has braved the over 6 ft tall cat tree and looks out over her subjects (aka, her brothers) as Queen of the Mountain!
