On Sunday, September 27, 2026, we gathered to remember and celebrate our dear friend, Marilyn Morton. ❤️
Surrounded by Marilyn’s family, friends, colleagues, and representatives from the many organizations she served, we shared stories, laughter, memories, and more than a few tears.
We talked about what Marilyn meant to each of us personally, and what she meant to Monmouth and Independence. Story after story reminded us of something we already knew: Marilyn made a difference.
She gave her time. She shared her wisdom. She built relationships. She showed up. And she believed deeply in the people and organizations working to make our two towns stronger.
As we listened to the memories being shared, one thing became beautifully clear. Marilyn’s impact will outlast us all.
To honor her extraordinary contributions to our community, the Monmouth-Independence Community Foundation is proud to share the Marilyn Morton Lifetime Achievement Award. We hope her name will continue to inspire the same spirit of service, generosity, leadership, and love for community that Marilyn demonstrated throughout her life.
Thank you to everyone who joined us to celebrate her. We filled the room with laughter and good stories, the kind Marilyn would have appreciated. In those moments, it truly felt as though she were right there with us.
We miss our friend deeply. But we are incredibly grateful for the time we had with her, the lessons she left us, and the legacy she entrusted to this community.
Marilyn, your work here mattered. Your friendship mattered. And your legacy will live on. ❤️
