Friends of Basha Providing advocacy and resources that equip and empower people to build lives free from exploitation. Basha Enterprises Ltd.

is a social business in Bangladesh that was established in 2011 to employ women at risk and survivors of trafficking. While Basha Enterprises now has five production centres, employs over 70 women, and provides on site daycare to more than 80 children, it became increasingly obviously that 1) more needs to be done to prevent trafficking; 2) more opportunities are needed to help women escape traffi

cking; 3) more services are needed to help women rebuild their lives 4) more services are needed to ensure at risk or exploited children get the right start in life. Friends of Basha exists to work alongside Basha production centres to ensure we are able to work effectively and holistically in each community.

Happy Mother's Day.
This is for the mother who shows up, even when it's hard.
The one whose eldest daughter couldn't stay in school, but who works hard every day so her youngest can sit her board exams.
The one who did not have a home growing up, but now with her own financial stability she is able to rent a place of her own.
The one who can give her all at work because just next door, her sons are safe, nourished, and cared for.
The women who were told they had no future, and are now building one, stitch by stitch, day by day.
The mothers who looked at their own childhoods, early marriage, loss, exploitation, and made a quiet, fierce decision: not for my children.
And the women who never had children of their own, but became mothers anyway, because motherhood is not about biology. It's about who you show up for.
This Mother's Day, we honor all of them.

One of our artisans shared her story with us. Years ago, her eldest daughter left home at a young age. She wasn’t able to continue her education, and it’s something that still stays with her.

But today, her youngest daughter is sitting for her HSC exams.
At home, things are not easy. Her husband is sick and bedridden, and much of the responsibility now rests on her shoulders. And yet, every day, she shows up, to work, to provide, to support her daughter through this important time.
