Today brought some really encouraging news for Jett! 🤍 Over a liter of fluid was drained from the right side, and the left side is now mainly empty after draining 650 mL. He did so amazing through it all! Radiation is scheduled for tomorrow afternoon. We are holding onto faith and hoping this is the miracle we’ve all been praying for. Thank you all for keeping Jett in your thoughts and hearts. 🙏✨❤️ Jett had all three sisters here today visiting him! He loved them being here today! All three of them were here after he had his chest tube procedure! Holding his hands and exchanging I love you's 💗💗💗 didn't get a picture with the sisters today they were to busy enjoying time with their baby brother 💙 the nurse just gave Jett olanzapine so hopefully Jett will be back to himself in the morning 🙏🎗️

One thing heart families wish more people understood is that medical needs don’t disappear just because a child is smiling. ❤️‍🩹

Behind the everyday moments are often parents making difficult decisions, managing risks, and doing everything they can to give their child a happy childhood.

We want our kids to experience the same joy, friendships, and adventures as everyone else. Sometimes that just means taking a different approach to keep them safe.

Yesterday, Atlas underwent a nuclear kidney function scan at Sloan to further evaluate his leftsided hydroureteronephrosis, which we've known about since his previous imaging in September

Hydronephrosis occurs when urine backs up and causes swelling in the kidney. In Atlas’s case, both his left kidney and ureter are affected.

Unfortunately yesterday’s scan revealed findings of a partial obstruction in his left urinary drainage system. This means urine is not draining properly from his kidney. Even after receiving medication to encourage drainage, his kidney was still unable to empty completely.

Thankfully both kidneys are still functioning and receiving adequate blood flow. His left kidney currently contributes 57% of his overall kidney function, while his right contributes 43%. These percentages show how his kidneys share the workload, not how much function he has lost.

However an ongoing obstruction can eventually lead to permanent kidney damage, which is concerning considering everything Atlas’s body has already endured.

After 17 months of aggressive cancer treatment, 23 rounds of chemotherapy, multiple rounds of immunotherapy, and two extensive abdominal surgeries to remove his massive abdominal tumors we are now facing another complication.
