A child or teenager's diagnosis can bring challenges no family ever expects.

For families staying at CHOC Houses across South Africa, everyday essentials help create comfort, stability, and a sense of home during an incredibly difficult time.

As we build up to Mandela Day, we're sharing the items that help us support children and teenagers diagnosed with cancer or life-threatening blood disorders, and their families, throughout treatment.

From everyday food items and toiletries to household essentials, every donation helps create a welcoming environment where families can focus on what matters most: their loved one.

For you, it's 67 minutes.

For a family staying at a CHOC House, it can mean a warm meal after a long day at hospital, a safe place to stay close to treatment, or one less thing to worry about during an incredibly challenging time.

67 Minutes Can Change a Child's Journey This Mandela Day.

Give comfort.
Give care.
Give hope.

When you are navigating something as overwhelming as a pediatric brain tumor diagnosis, the word "brave" takes on a whole new meaning.

But what amazes us most about our IronKids isn't just their incredible resilience. Itโ€™s their unrelenting ability to just be kids.

Amidst the hospital visits, the scans, and the treatments, they still find reasons to laugh, to play, and to light up a room.

They are the absolute heart of everything we do, and the reason we will never stop fighting for a cure. ๐Ÿ’™

Did you know?

Syringomyelia is a neurological condition in which a fluid-filled cavity, known as a syrinx, develops within the spinal cord.

As the syrinx grows, it can put pressure on the spinal cord and surrounding nerves, leading to a wide range of symptoms. These may include pain, weakness, numbness, fatigue, balance problems and changes in sensation.

Symptoms can vary significantly from person to person, which can sometimes make diagnosis challenging.

Raising awareness of Syringomyelia helps more people recognise the condition, seek support and access the information they need.

Learn more about Syringomyelia and the support available through the Ann Conroy Trust.
