Jett went under for anesthesia at 11:40 AM today. I finally got the call to come back to see him at 3:23 PM. When I got down to recovery at 3:30, the nurse let me know that his leg wouldn't extend all the way straight. Poor guy woke up mumbling, "My leg hurts, my leg hurts," and my heart just broke for him. They gave him liquid fentanyl a few times, but when that wasn't helping, they moved to morphine.
After about 15 minutes, he started begging, "Mom, fix my leg, it hurts." Seeing him in that kind of pain is so hard.
We are really hoping these scans finally show us why Jett stopped walking and, most importantly, that no new tumors have appeared.
We are finally back up in his room on the 5th floor now, resting up and watching Pinocchio. He requested fresh fruit, so I had some DoorDashed from Safeway, and he’s nibbling on that. The hospital pain team will be in tomorrow morning to figure out the best plan for him moving forward.
On top of the leg pain, his kidney creatinine levels were really elevated when Jett got here, so they’ve been running fluids continuously to flush everything out. Thankfully, his levels have finally dropped down to a safer range, but he will need to go back on home infusions once we are discharged.
Thank you all for the love, text messages, and prayers. We’ll keep everyone updated once we talk to the pain team tomorrow! Right now Jett said...mom come sit by me and can you just stay right here ❤️
