14 of us stepped on the dock at Gold lake, super excited and nervous for the next 5 days. We knew that we would grow our bonds and cultivate strong friendships, but we had no idea the 14 of us would be walking out of base camp, at the trail head of Sutter Butte, completely different people.
We learned how to Rock Climb, belay for each other and repel. We watched every sunset and sunrise together, we danced around the fire and laughed until we cried. We hiked 5 miles to base camp, we hiked up to the watch tower at sutter butte, and when we came back to camp, we were all changed.
We grew as people, we grew as a family and we grew as leaders.
And for certain, none of us will ever be the same!

And they’re off! 🌲🚌

Class XV began their wilderness adventure with warm sendoffs in Merced, Modesto and Stockton. Thank you to all our Senior Fellows who came out to cheer them on and wish them well as they embark on one of the most meaningful and memorable experiences of their American Leadership Forum journey.

Senior Fellows, take a moment to reflect on your own wilderness experience. What was your favorite part? What fun backcountry adventures do you still laugh about today? Share your memories in the comments!

🚨Attention senior fellow🚨

Class 15 is leaving for their wilderness experience tomorrow Wednesday 9/9. Below are the locations and time. If you are able, come by for a few minutes to help us send them off.

Merced – Costco Gas Station, 1445 R St, in the southeast corner next to R Street, paralleling the railroad tracks. The bus will arrive for boarding by 8:15am and will depart no later than 8:30am.

Modesto – 825 7th St– Revival Center. Southwest corner of the parking lot at the corner of 6th and I streets. The bus will arrive from Merced by 9:20am for loading and depart no later than 10:00am sharp.

Stockton – Holt of California, 1521 W. Charter Way/Highway 4 west (1/4 mile West of I-5, on the right, with the flag pole out front. The bus will arrive by 10:40am and depart as soon as everyone is loaded, but no later than 10:45am.
