Super Serious $5 Friday post!
Pictured in this post are Kona and Chip. They are both in boarding until we can find a foster or forever home for each of them. Boarding costs $1000/month per dog. Additionally, both are due for their annual exam, vaccines, and tests. We anticipate that will cost approximately $450/dog or an additional $1,000 more or less. Please help! Please donate today through one of the following methods:
Credit or debit card: https://www.furryfriendsct.org/donate
Cash App: $FFFRct

And if you can foster or would like to adopt either of them, ,message us for more information and/or fill out an application at our website: https://www.furryfriendsct.org/foster-application or https://www.furryfriendsct.org/adoption-application

KONA (brown & white dog):
About 9 years old
Pitbull type dog
Needs to be an only pet
Good with children 10+ years old
House trained
Crate trained (but hates the crate)
Loves people
Knows her basics
Would love a fenced yard
Active girl, even at her age - would love an active family
Spayed
Up to date with vaccines
Negative tests for heartworm and tick-borne illnesses
Came to us in 2017. Was returned (no fault of Kona) 2 years ago.

CHIP(white dog):
Pit bull type dog
About 6 years old
Best as an only dog - has some possessiveness with toys but otherwise gets on well with other dogs
Best in a home with adults or dog-savvy children over 16 will be considered
House trained
Crate trained
Walks well on a leash
Knows his basics
Would love a fenced yard
Medium energy
Needs a quiet home - bonds quickly and strongly with his person
Needs experience with bully breed dogs
Up to date with vaccines
Neutered
Came to us when he was 10 months old. Was with a long-term foster until a family emergency necessitated he move. We've been looking for a foster or adopter ever since.

Please donate! Please consider fostering or adopting! Kona and Chip deserve to be in homes with families who love them, and we honestly cannot afford $2,000/month for boarding!

Bentley did well with his neuter surgery and is back home with his new family. His expression says about what he thought about the whole day's activities! 🤣

We still need to raise approximately $350 to cover the cost of his vet visit and the neuter surgery today. Please donate! The vet needs to be paid!
Credit or debit card: https://www.furryfriendsct.org/donate
Cash App: $FFFRct
The invoice for the vet visit and the estimate for his neuter (we haven't received that invoice yet) are included in the pictures on this post.

Bentley was placed through our direct adoption program. He is loving life in his new home. FFFR committed to helping with vet care and neuter surgery for dogs like Bentley through our new Community Initiative program. We can only do that with you as part of our team. Rescues are able to do what they do because of donations. Without your support, we can do nothing!

We are approved by the IRS as a 501(c)(3) public charity. All donations are tax deductible.

UPDATE 6-23-26 AT 10 AM: We received one $20 donation last night. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE donate to help us care for the dogs still in the rescue!

URGENT plea from FFFR's President:

HELP! We're desperate! We have not received any donations in several days. We have LAST month's bills to pay and the end of THIS month is coming up quickly! Our bank fund for our rescue dogs is EMPTY! Please read! Please donate! We need your help to cover the costs of care for our dogs!

Cash App: $FFFRct
PayPal, credit/debit card, Apple Pay, Google Pay or bank draft through the following link:
https://secure.anedot.com/furry-friends-foster-and-rescue-inc/donate

We need to raise $5,000 each month JUST to cover costs, and that doesn't include the inevitable emergency.

To encourage donations, everyone donating $20 or more will be entered to win a $100 gift card from either Chewy or Amazon - winner's choice. Each entry is $20 with no limit to number of entries. People donating $100 or more will receive extra entries.

FOR EXAMPLE:

Chip and Kona are in boarding until we can find foster or forever homes for them (we will be posting them - AGAIN! - separately). Each dog costs $1,000/month to board. Additionally, they are now due for their annual exams, tests, and vaccines - estimated cost:
$450/dog.

Noodles needs a dental: estimated cost over $1,000

Food, supplies, and routine veterinary care for all of our dogs costs approximately $350/mo per dog.

All of you who own pets KNOW the cost for ONE dog. Multiply that by 8!

I cannot be emphatic enough - We need you now!!! We're volunteers - we don't get salaries. All donations go directly to the dogs' care. We're an approved 501(c)(3) public charity. Whatever you donate is tax deductible.

Please donate today! The dogs need us and we need you!

Petfinder posts a warning to potential adopters that should be both read and heeded by anyone and everyone who is even contemplating adopting a dog that is being transported into the state.

Once again, MANY CT rescues take dogs from the Southern/Western states and regularly transport them into CT. Many do pre-adoptions. Many literally ghost their adopters when the adopters reach out for help or need to return the dog.

BE AWARE PEOPLE!

Ghost was the first dog to benefit from our new FFFR Community Initiative. We raised funds for him to go to a board and train and then committed to finding an adopter or a rescue for him. Well, he was done with his board and train a long time ago. We have a rescue on board to take him but before that happens need to find a foster for him. Until then, we're responsible for keeping him in boarding with his trainer! AND donations have come to a screeching halt! Please folks - the need doesn't stop when they dog is no longer at risk! His journey is just beginning and we need his village to donate towards making the rest of his journey possible!

Ghost is a young, active, friendly Dojo Argentino mix who was adopted from Bridgeport, Connecticut Animal Control by someone who loved him but found him to be WAY too much for her to handle. She reached out to us for help. We got him into a training program with Todd from Dog Speak and he did GREAT! He's deaf, and Todd taught him ways to "hear" and communicate, as well as teaching him his basics.

Ghost would thrive in a home with adults or one with older children as the only dog in the home. He does well with other dogs, but tends to get over-excited around them.

Especially if you have experience with bully breeds and special needs/deaf dogs, please message us and let us know you're interested! We'll put you in touch with Todd and with the rescue who wants to take him!

Please help us continue to help Ghost!

URGENT Courtesy post! This dog is not with our rescue. She is part of our new direct rehoming program. Please read below and, if you are a private person who can help, fill out an application (we'll be screening them): https://www.furryfriendsct.org/adoption-application
Adoption will be between her caregiver/owner and her new family. Our rescue is sadly unable to take new dogs at this time, but we're trying to help as much as we can in the current .

If you're a reputable rescue and can help, please private message us!

NOTE: Yesterday we put up a courtesy post about a dog needing a new home. We were asked by the dog's advocate to take it down because it included too much identifying info. We are all about full disclosure and will always provide as much info as we can about a dog needing a home, but also are as sensitive to people's feelings as possible. We removed the post and are reposting. The dog is *NO LESS URGENT* than she was last night!!! She needs to move from her home NOW!!!

Details:

âť—Treeing Walker Coonhound
âť—About 5-6 years old (best guesstimate)
âť—Currently needs to be an only pet, or ability to reliably separate and do *very* gradual *very controlled introductions
âť—Needs very experienced owners/handlers
âť—Bonds more quickly with men than women - a single male would be a perfect owner, or a couple with experience specifically with hunting breeds and dogs who have suffered abuse
âť—Needs a quiet home with adults only (older dog-savvy teenagers may be ok on a case-by-case basis)
âť—Good with cats, but not with other small animals or birds (chicken and ducks specifically - they bring out her hunting dog instincts)
âť—Loves walks and car rides - would love an active family and to go on long walks and hikes
âť—Needs to be exposed to new people and experiences once she has decompressed in a home - has not had a ton of socialization
âť—Will do best in a home where someone is home most of the time
âť—History of abuse - it will take her time to figure out people can be kind and reliable

We have no idea if she is house trained, crate trained, or has any training to speak of.

We are assuming the chances are slim to none that she is up to date with veterinary care or vaccines, and we will work with the new owner to take care of that, as well as spay surgery if she is not spayed.

We are told she likely was originally from a local CT rescue that is now not being responsive.

Full disclosure: she has bitten her abuser while being abused. She was also met by a qualified animal professional, who says that when approached slowly and with kindness, she allowed pets and wagged her tail. Moral: if you're nice to her, she'll be nice to you. People spent time with her again this afternoon and she was fine with them - she was more immediately drawn to the man than she was to the woman, but did approach and interacted positively with the woman.

She needs to be an only pet for the time being - there are several other dogs in her home who haven't been at all nice to her.

She bonds quickly and strongly with her person, and becomes anxious when that person isn't there. She needs to learn through experience that if her person leaves, they will always come back, and that people in general can be kind and reliable.

She's been in her current home for about a year. It is NOT a good place for her to be. This is honestly an emergency!

Animal control has been contact and say they can do nothing without video evidence of abuse. So it's up to us and our Facebook village to get this girl into a new home and give her the care and love and rehabilitation she needs.

We need to do that NOW! Please help her!
