The Milford Food Insecurity Group met yesterday with Christian Duborg - a tremendous food and nutrition policy analyst representing the Commission on Women, Children, Seniors, Equity and Opportunity in Hartford. Christian shared vital information about the status of food insecurity across the state -- and how Connecticut stacks up against other nearby states. Several member organizations attended the meeting, including All In For Milford, Milford Health Department, Milford Human Services Department, Milford Food Pantry, Purple Pantry, Haven's Harvest, CT Food Rescue, and -- of course -- your Milford United Way. MAKING CONNECTIONS - FILLING GAPS! Diapers are EXPENSIVE - and thanks to the donation we received this week from Slainte -- the charitable arm of the Irish Heritage Society of Milford -- we will be able to continue providing diapers to young Milford families in need. Over the past year, the Milford United Way has distributed more than 17,000 diapers to community members in need. Paul Flynn, President of the group, stopped by with a check and we are grateful! We were recently honored with a visit from Tony Giannattasio -- former Mayor of Milford -- when he stopped by to see how we were doing and to provide a donation to the MUW.
