A Little Background on the Why 💛

We’ve received so many messages about voting for our Scarecrows on Main contest, and it truly means the world to see how much passion and love our community has for it. We wanted to take a moment to share why we’ve set up our voting the way we have.

When we first took over the contest a few years ago, our social media presence was very small — under 100 followers, with little engagement and not many people who even knew what the Milan Area Historical Society was.

Since then, this contest has become so much more than just a fun fall activity. It’s helped us grow our audience, increase engagement, and connect our community with Milan’s rich history. Thanks to Scarecrows on Main, we’ve gained new followers, members, and many wonderful friends.

We know that sometimes the comment section can get a little heated, or it might be confusing to find where to cast your vote. And yes — there are a dozen ways we could run this contest. But we’re a small group with a big heart, doing our best to make a difference.

So as you vote, please remember what this contest is all about — joy, creativity, and community.
Vote fairly. Vote kindly. And above all, give grace. 🎃❤️
