Reach Out LaFond - Preventing restavik, street children, and orphanage abuse through education, restoration, and reconnecting familes.

Training up Godly, ethical leaders for a better Haiti. Reach Out is a 501c3 non-profit group committed to educating the young while keeping the family unit together. Through education and extra ciricular activites we work to encourage the economic and spiritual growth in these young minds. Only about 60% of the children in Haiti attend school. This number drops to around 20% when the students hit

high school. It is our desire to see these number increase. It is our desire to share the love of Christ, keep families together and encourage young people to dream for a brighter future and to give them the skill set to not only dream but to reach those dreams.

Last night as Andrew and I sat watching Haitian news our hearts broke as they reported another massacre had happened the night before.

In the mountains above Port au Prince the area of Kenskoff 47 people were killed in the night. Children separated from parents, young and old murdered and left to lay in the streets.

People ran - fleeing for their lives.

"The bandits raided a displaced persons camp located in a church. They executed several people. There are fatalities and dozens of wounded. Some people were abducted by the criminals," mayor Massillon Jean said.

My prayer is that of Habakkuk’s… how long must we call for help, Lord? 1:2

2:12 What sorrow awaits you who build cities with money gained through murder and corruption….

3:16b I will wait quietly for the coming day when disaster will strike the people who invade us…

Please pray that the Lord will rise up leaders who will know how to stop the gangs from invading.

Pray that the Lord will change the hearts of the gang members, their leaders and those who are behind the scenes that we can’t see.

Pray that those whom we can’t see will be revealed and that justice will be served.

Pray for the little ones as young as 8 who have been forced or coerced into joining the gangs.

Pray for the many who have experienced great trauma over the past 5 years.

And especially pray for these families who have lost loved ones.

Monday moments with God!

This Weeks Scripture
Colossians 3:14

Above all, put on love, which is the perfect bond of unity.

In this divisive world, how do we as Christians stay united? Paul tells us it's done by putting on love.

This verse tells us that it's a choice. If we are putting something on, we must choose to do it. Much like choosing what shirt to wear in the morning, we also need to choose our attitudes and the way we will live each and every day.

And if we choose to put on "love," what does that look like? What is love?

1 Corinthians 13:4-8
4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil , but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. 8 Love never fails.

This morning, I challenge you to replace the word Love with your name.

Example:
Jayme is Patient, Jayme is kind, I do not envy, I do not boast, I am not proud, I do not dishonor others, I am not self-seeking, I am not easily angered, I keep no record of wrongs. Jayme does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. I always protect. I always trust, I always hope, and I always persevere. While I might fail... God never will.

We have a choice today. Will you put on love?

Our Prayer for you

Dear Lord,
Thank you for your love. Your love is perfect, and we are not. But, Lord, we want to be more like you. Help us to choose to put on love today. I pray that the one reading this will remember these words when or if hard moments hit today.

Give each one of us the wisdom that comes with love. Help us not to dishonor others, to keep no record of wrongs. Teach us to be kind and patient. Teach us to love the way you love. We love you, Lord.

In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen
