Reach Out LaFond - Preventing restavik, street children, and orphanage abuse through education, restoration, and reconnecting familes.

Training up Godly, ethical leaders for a better Haiti. Reach Out is a 501c3 non-profit group committed to educating the young while keeping the family unit together. Through education and extra ciricular activites we work to encourage the economic and spiritual growth in these young minds. Only about 60% of the children in Haiti attend school. This number drops to around 20% when the students hit high school. It is our desire to see these number increase. It is our desire to share the love of Christ, keep families together and encourage young people to dream for a brighter future and to give them the skill set to not only dream but to reach those dreams.

One of the things I got to do while I was there was teach Met Romain (our lead assistant to pastor in the Rev program) how to get on the typing program so he could then teach the students.

At first, he wasn't sure what I was asking him to do. But then we got him set up and starting to type fj ffjj fjfj jfjf... if you've ever taken typing class, you know the drill.

It was fun to watch him move from the unknown and wondering what this crazy lady was asking him to do, to becoming very excited about it and even wanting to practice it often so he too could be good at typing.

Saturday we had a fantastic day with the students in the Lafond Rèv program.

What an opportunity to speak life over them.

God has really convicted me about my words. Not that I’m saying negative things all the time, but that I’m not using my words to encourage and bless others.

Such a simple a free gift.

The Bible says
Proverbs 18:21 death and life are in the power of the tongue.

Proverbs 11:11 a city is built up by the blessings of the upright.

So many times people bless each other.

Like in Genesis 24:60 as Rebekah was leaving her home - her family blessed her saying to her: Our sister may you become thousands upon thousands. May your offspring possess the city gates of their enemy.

And Rebekah boldly got up on the camel and left. (My translation)

These students are amazing. And we blessed them with our words every time we saw them by speaking love and life into and over them.

What’s more exciting than children going back to school?

It is such a privilege to watch these children grow and learn!

Jayme and Andrew have been working hard to make sure everyone gets their back to school pictures! The real picture will be sent in the mail when they get back!

Trying to get pictures of preschools can be… what can we say? … challenging? 🤣

Last November Jayme came after Hurricane Melissa did damage to the village of Lafond.

She got sick while there and ended up having to be cared for and came back early.

However, the rebuilding went on!

Today when Jayme and Andrew were walking in the community they were able to get some photos of some of the rebuilding!
