This Thursday, the Jazz Up Close series continues with another great installment! Join us at Russell Library as we welcome flutist and composer Jamie Baum , an excellent finale to this year’s series which also is the 10th anniversary season!
Jamie Baum, an NYC flutist/composer, Sunnyside Records Artist, and Guggenheim Fellow, has toured in over 35 countries, performing at many festivals and other prestigious venues. She has worked with a wide range of iconic artists including Richie Beirach, Dave Douglas, Randy Brecker, Roy Hargrove, Kenny Barron, Louis Cole, Donald Brown, Wadada Leo Smith, and Anthony Braxton. Her seventh CD as a bandleader, What Times Are These, received a glowing, five-star review in DownBeat magazine and made several “Best Albums” of 2024 lists.
Baum will be joined by Noah Baerman on keys, Henry Lugo on bass, and special guest Jeff Hirshfield on drums. Together, audience members will get to enjoy compositions by Jamie and a couple by the late Geri Allen.
Jazz Up Close is able to to be free thanks to the support of Resonant Motion’s donors and the Middletown Commission on the Arts. Additionally, the appearance of Jamie Baum at this event has been made possible, in part, through an educational grant from the KHS America Academic Alliance and Altus Flutes. Jamie performs exclusively on Altus Flutes.
