What a fun night with our hometown Knights!

MVFC invited students to try on the same turnout gear our firefighters wear when responding to calls. The challenge? Gear up in under two minutes and win a duck or a hat!

In the fire service, every second counts! Firefighters train to put on their protective gear quickly and correctly so they’re ready when an emergency arises. Our Knights got to experience that firsthand, and these kids were FAST!

We had an absolute blast and are already looking forward to next year! We’re bringing two sets of gear so the students can go head-to-head!

Think you can beat the two-minute challenge? Maybe next year you can gear up too!

Thank you to everyone who stopped by and joined in the fun!

Last Monday, three (3) members from MVFC, Chief Jason Loveless, Deputy Chief Josh Loveless and Senior Firefighter Michael Donaldson were presented with a "Green Cross" award from HURST Jaws of Life after their exemplary performance on the scene of an auto accident in February.

The "Green Cross" is a symbolic award from HURST Jaws of Life® that celebrates “fearless rescues” where men and women have defied danger to save patients. It is awarded to firefighters, EMTs, law enforcement officers, and other first responders who have successfully used HURST tools — such as cutters, spreaders, and rescue rams — to extricate trapped victims.

The details of the incident are listed below:

On February 27, 2026, just before 2pm, RE74 was special alerted to assist with an auto accident on I-70 west bound just into Washington County involving and overturned cement truck with heavy entrapment.
Units arrived on the scene and confirmed dispatch and requested additional units. RE74 arrived shortly after and assisted RS10 (Funkstown) with extrication. Due to the severity of the crash, Hagerstown Truck 3 was special alerted to assist as a high directional utilizing ropes to remove the occupant.
Utilizing a heavy tow truck for additional stabilization, the extrication was approximately 1.5 hours. The patient was transferred to Trooper 3 and transported to Shock Trauma in Baltimore.
Excellent work by all units involved, this was an extremely difficult situation with a very positive outcome!

Attached are pictures of the accident and the award recipients, patch and challenge coin.

It’s always an honor to welcome the The William F Moran Jr Museum & Foundation, Inc. and the many talented bladesmiths who come together for the All-Forged Knife Show & Auction at our Activities Building.

The museum holds a special place in our community, preserving Bill Moran’s legacy and carrying on the tradition of bladesmithing right here in Middletown. We’re grateful to be a part of this wonderful event.

Congratulations to everyone on another successful show!
