Who can participate?
You. There are various projects requiring various skills. There is something for each volunteer to contribute. Sitting, listening and talking to a resident brings great value alongside the handiwork. Most times new friendships are made.
What is the Middletown Ministerium Community Day of Service? There are one or two days a year designated as a Community Day of Service in which volunteers from our local churches, community or surrounding towns help a neighbor in need of small home projects that can be completed in one day.
Why do we do this?
To walk as a faithful disciple. To take care of His sheep. To bring light in the darkness. To share love for one another. To bring joy. To share the Good News. To grow the mission founded by the late Father John, supported by our faith community years ago.
Where does this happen?
The projects worked by volunteers occurs in the Middletown Valley and neighboring towns.
How does it work?
The Middletown Ministerium Lay Committee meets several times a year to review current needs of neighbors, schedule assessments of projects to ensure it is within the scope of volunteers to safely complete, review material needs, coordinate volunteers through Signup Genius, review funds available for project supplies. The funds are made through donations with the largest contributions from volunteers collecting, sorting and recycling scrap metal. Volunteers gather in the morning of service day, unite for send off sponsored by a local church, establish teams for each project, gather supplies, pray with each other, and get to work.
When does this happen?
Project awareness and assessment occurs throughout the year. Projects are scheduled for the next Community Day of Service. The upcoming Service Day is Saturday, September 7, 2024.
