FCFC would like to thank our wonderful speakers who joined us at Wednesday's quarterly meeting. We heard from Amy Cawley of the Maryland Food Bank about food insecurity in the state, which they estimate is currently impacting about 2,000,000 Marylanders--that's about 1 in 3 people in the state. We also heard from Ann Pond & Marcie Gordon, volunteers with their local partners at the Middletown Valley Food Bank about their efforts and partnerships that support the Middletown area of Frederick County. We also enjoyed hearing from our featured food provider, local farmer MK Barnet at Open Book Farm. Thank you to all for sharing your experiences and expertise feeding the community, and thank you to Alison Wexler of Sand Garden Health & Wellness Coaching for facilitating a great discussion--you can meet Alison at her upcoming seminar about eating for the environment held at The Common Market Co-op and cohosted by Frederick County Food Council and Multi-faith Alliance of Climate Stewards - Frederick County. Check our page for details and for the video of this wonderfully informative meeting.
