Cooperative Christian Ministry - CCM

Cooperative Christian Ministry - CCM Providing Christian Service to Middlesboro, Kentucky Since 1979. CCM SERVICES:

FOOD PANTRY AND HYGIENE

The food pantry provides food for families in need.

Our food baskets are nutritionally balanced and sufficient to feed a family for 5-6 days. This is an emergency service only and is only provided at a maximum of once every three months. In addition to providing food, we also provide personal hygiene items such as toilet paper, bar soap, shampoo, toothpaste, toothbrushes and deodorant when available.

UTILITY ASSISTANCE

CCM helps families keep th

eir utilities in service by paying a portion of a utility bill, when a cutoff of these services is imminent. This is an emergency service only and is only provided every six months, or two times per year. CCM does not pay deposits or assist with telephone or cable TV service.

Emergency Relocation Program
For families who are dislocated due to either domestic violence, fire or other type of emergency, CCM will provide a relocation box containing dishes, cookware, sheets, blankets and towels, and a food and hygiene pack.

CLOTHING CLOSET

The Second Chances Thrift Shop is open to the public as well as it is a source of clothing for our clients. Each qualifying client will be given a voucher for 10 pieces of clothing per person in the household, and may receive a voucher every three months, or a maximum of three times a year. The income from the Second Chances Thrift Shop helps support the other types of assistance CCM gives to clients. Clothing and household items are priced from 25¢ and up.

The store is open Monday-Thursday from
9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and is open 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on Fridays.

TRANSIENT MINISTRY

CCM's Transient Ministry provides food and shelter referral for people from outside the Middlesboro area who are traveling through and need assistance. SENIOR CITIZEN FOOD PROGRAM

The Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP) is a program administered by the Kentucky Department of Agriculture for Kentucky residents. The program provides a monthly package of food to supplement the nutritional needs of low-income senior citizens. Senior citizens over the age of 60 at 130% of Federal Poverty Income Guidelines are eligible.

*Enrollment is limited. Applicants may be placed on a waiting list. MEDICAL RELATED ASSISTANCE

We may purchase some non-narcotic medications for those who cannot afford to buy their own. We may also provide gasoline for individuals who need to go to out-of-town medical facilities for testing or treatment.

TOYS FOR KIDS

CCM helps provide toys to over 100 children each year at Christmas time. We try to provide each child with a new pair of pajamas, a new book and a new sweatshirt.

REFERRAL SERVICES

In cases where the services provided by CCM will not be sufficient in meeting a client’s ongoing needs, we attempt to refer them to agencies which can provide more appropriate services.
