🎓Congratulations to our 2026 SMSF and Pfeffer Scholarship Recipients!🎓

We are incredibly impressed by everyone who applied this year. The academic achievement, community involvement, and dedication demonstrated by our applicants were truly outstanding!

Here are a few photos from the evening celebrating some of our scholarship winners.

This year, $249,000 was awarded to new recipients and re-applicants! It is inspiring to see the incredible impact SMSF has on the lives of our students and their families. Thank you to everyone who donates and supports our mission!🖤❤️

PHS➡️UConn➡️Dental School🦷

Hansuja Chaurasia graduated PHS in 2022 and she completes our profiles from that year. Hansuja won a Four-year Pfeffer Scholarship, and she has been doing incredible things since then.

Hansuja majored in Allied Health Sciences and minored in Chemistry at UConn on a Pre-Dental track. Her favorite part of UConn has been finding a true community. Hansuja has been a dedicated member of the Indian Students Association for three years and served as the organization’s President this past year. She also loves the support that she received from the faculty and staff there.

Hansuja’s dedication to science is unmatched. She worked in four different research labs, gaining experience in organic chemistry, psychology, public health, and biochemistry. Her advice to seniors: “Say yes to everything your first semester! Try new things, don’t be afraid to step outside of your comfort zone.”

We wish her the best of luck as she pursues her dream of becoming an orthodontist. Hansuja is staying in Storrs to continue her journey at UConn Dental School. We are so proud to support students like you!💙🦅

Alumni Spotlight🎓: Bethany Karp➡️Northeastern➡️NYC

Today, we are catching up with Bethany Karp, a 2021 Pomperaug graduate and a multi-year Pfeffer Scholarship recipient.

Bethany recently graduated from Northeastern University(2025), where she studied Communications and Graphic Design with minors in Marketing and Spanish. During her college years, she stayed active in club soccer and powerlifting—even traveling to Austin, TX for club soccer nationals!

Beyond athletics, Bethany served as a Design lead for FGLISU(First Generation-Low Income Student Union), showcasing her commitment to community and design. Bethany’s advice for seniors: “Take the time to study a wide variety of classes. If you have the passion, then you can succeed in any field.”

Currently, Bethany is living her dream in NYC, working in Employee Communications at ServiceNow.

Catching up with Jackson Lowell🔬➡️

We caught up with Jackson Lowell, a 2023 Pomperaug graduate and recipient of a One-Year Pfeffer Scholarship.🎓

Jackson is studying Physics at Colgate University. His favorite college perk is having direct access to his labs. You can find him hitting the slopes skiing, when he’s not in the lab.⛷️🎿

Jackson thinks that his ability to collaborate and work well with others has helped him stand out. His advice to seniors: “just relax.”

After graduation, Jackson is aiming for grad school on the East Coast. We are so proud of your hard work Jackson!👏✨
