Troop 5 is very happy to announce that Brayden is now Eagle Scout number 120. Brayden's project was building a new fence and garden in the courtyard of a life skills classroom. It was a long journey for Brayden but he's finally in the nest! 🦅 ⚜️

On Saturday, Troop 5 and Troop 6 helped to clean up the grounds at Middlebury Congregational Church in our annual clean up project. Scouts and volunteers worked really hard on a sunny day and the Church looks like spring!

This weekend the Scouts left town for their annual Spring Break Trip, this time to Gettysburg. Day 1 had a very relaxing game of full-contact wiffle ball followed by a spooktacular ghost tour and ice cream. Day 2 started with a showing of the Gettysburg Cyclorama, an amazing 360 degree oil painting. The Troop then witnessed history with nearly 7 miles of walking throughout the many battlegrounds and memorials...and rock climbing! Those Scouts also showed off their outdoor chef skills along with the Scoutmasters, so everyone was well fed. Day 3 was the trip home along with a visit to the Crystal Caves and their physics-defying mini-golf course. This really was a great trip full of fun and history. ⚜️🇺🇸

Tonight we welcomed Josh L to the nest as he becomes Eagle Scout #119 for Troop 5! His project was building raised garden boxes for the Southbury Community Garden. Congratulations to Josh and his family! 🦅 ⚜️

It's time again for our annual Flower Sale which supports our High Adventure trips. All sales will directly help defray costs for our next Scouts trip.

Troop 5 is honored to announce that tonight Sohan N. has achieved his Eagle Scout Rank! Sohan's Eagle project was building a walking bridge at the Middlebury Land Trust. Welcome to the nest, Sohan! 🦅⚜️

Today Troops 5 and 6 and 75 participated in the annual Klondike Derby at sunny and snowy Camp Mattatuck. Patrols pack up a sled with all the supplies they need for the day as they travel to various stations and compete to finish challenges that test their Scout skills and knowledge. Troops 6 and 75 combined into one patrol today, and while they had some sled struggles, they did not lose their Scout Spirit, which earned them the coveted Red Lantern Award for demonstrating the most spirit, perseverance, and patience! Congrats to all the Scouts for their hard work today and for representing all three Troops.

Today we celebrated Scout Sunday along with Troop 6 at our charter organization Middlebury Congregational Church. Each year we attend a Sunday service to inform the community what Scouting brings to our Scouts and to give thanks to church for all their support. We truly have a supportive charter organization that understands the value Scouting provides to the community which is a key element to a strong troop.
