Today we celebrate the appearance of Śrīla Rūpa Gosvāmī — chief of the Six Gosvāmīs of Vṛndāvana, foremost rasika-ācārya, and none other than Rūpa Mañjarī herself, eternal maidservant of Śrīmatī Rādhārāṇī in kuñja-sevā.
Personally empowered by Śrī Chaitanya Mahāprabhu at Prayāga, he gave the world the deepest treasures of rāgānugā-bhakti through works like Bhakti-rasāmṛta-sindhu. Srila Prabhupada describes him as the superintendent of the entire saṅkīrtana movement.

This painting titled “Mercy upon Rupa Gosvami” was completed by Srimati Syamarani Dāsī in 1975.
śrī caitanya-mano-’bhīṣṭaṁ
sthāpitaṁ yena bhū-tale
svayaṁ rūpaḥ kadā mahyaṁ
dadāti sva-padāntikam
“When will Śrī Rūpa Gosvāmī, who established the deepest inner desire of Śrī Chaitanya Mahāprabhu in this world, give me shelter at his own lotus feet?”
