The Meredith Rotary Club recently held its annual Four-Way Test Speech Contest, featuring talented students from Inter-Lakes Middle High School.

Congratulations to this year’s winners:
🥇 Claire Clark – 1st Place
🥈 Kiera Moynihan – 2nd Place
🥉 Gus Marshall – 3rd Place
👏 Runners-up: Hayden Hebron and Jenna Spiegler

Claire’s winning speech explored the topic of cancel culture. She will advance to the District semifinal in Henniker on April 12—best of luck!

The contest is open to high school-age students living in the Inter-Lakes and Moultonborough Academy school districts. Participants prepare a 5–7 minute original speech based on Rotary’s Four-Way Test:
• Is it the truth?
• Is it fair to all concerned?
• Will it build goodwill and better friendships?
• Will it be beneficial to all concerned?

Each student applied these principles to real-life issues and relationships, demonstrating thoughtful insight and strong communication skills.

The next Styrofoam Collection day is scheduled for Saturday, March 28, 2026.

The Meredith Rotary Club, in collaboration with the Meredith Department of Public Works, is proud to offer the opportunity to recycle Styrofoam for the communities of Meredith and Center Harbor. The event will take place from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Meredith Solid Waste Facility (17 Jenness Hill Rd).

We will still be accepting Polystyrene ( #6 symbol), including foam coolers, packing materials, clean food containers, egg cartons, plates, and cups. However, we cannot accept items like pipe insulation, packing peanuts, or foam board insulation.

All collected material will be transported to the Gilford Solid Waste Center for professional recycling.

🎣 DERBY TICKETS ARE ON SALE 🎣

Ticket sales are underway for this year’s derby, and we hope you’ll join us for another exciting event supporting the Meredith Rotary Club and our local community programs. The derby is open to fishing on any public freshwater body of water in New Hampshire.

🏆 Win without being there
If your fish makes the Fish Board or you win a raffle prize, you do not need to be present at the end of the derby to collect your prize. You can win from the comfort of your couch while watching the Super Bowl. 🏈 Winners will be contacted directly, please be sure your ticket includes accurate contact information when purchasing.

🎣 Lake Trout Culling Project Update (NH Fish & Game Partnership)
In partnership with New Hampshire Fish & Game, the Meredith Rotary Club will accept lake trout measuring 15–22 inches as part of the Lake Trout Culling Project. This culling project is completely separate from the Fish Board program. Anglers who enter lake trout as part of the culling project will receive one raffle ticket per eligible fish, with one winner taking home $2,500 from this program.

🎣 Have you been out ice fishing yet? ❄️

While an official ice-in report hasn’t been declared, we’re already seeing anglers getting out on the ice across the state where safe conditions are present. Smaller bodies of water have frozen over, and larger lakes are beginning to follow suit as winter settles in.

With fishing activity already underway, we’re looking ahead to another great Meredith Rotary Club Ice Fishing Derby and can’t wait to welcome everyone for a fun winter weekend.
