Our Work Life class re-striped our parking lots this week, partnering with EverLine. The students enjoyed learning this skill, and we're hopeful the partnership will lead to jobs for our grads.

And then this morning they graduated! It was beautiful to see these men and women enjoy their accomplishment and reflect on how God has grown them over the last five weeks.

Advance Memphis Marketing and Grants Manager Jacob Steimer and featured artist Noelle Holler joined Kacky Walton to talk about the 16th annual Art for Jobs fundraiser, which features original works from more than 100 Memphis artists.

Grateful for Choose901 featuring Art for Jobs and our economic stability work!

As the article mentions, this event has raised nearly $2 million for South Memphis in the last 16 years!

This year's event takes place Sept. 24. Head to our website for all the details, including how to reserve your spot.

Next month, over 500 Memphians will gather in a South Memphis warehouse to buy art and promote economic stability in the surrounding neighborhood.

In January, Schneider National asked Advance Memphis graduate Marcus Stone to train its young drivers — a promotion that came with a huge raise.

At one point this spring, Stone considered asking his company to stop sending him trainees, given how much patience it requires to teach them.

But then he thought about how far he’d come since he started at Advance Memphis in 2011 and about the joy he receives from blessing others who are trying to turn their own lives around.

“(I realized), it’s not about the money,” Stone said. “People actually need my gift and what I do.”
