NO BURN AUTHORIZATIONS TODAY, THURSDAY, OCTOBER 29, 2026, IN ALACHUA, GILCHRIST, LEVY, MARION AND PUTNAM COUNTIES

Today's predicted unfavorable weather conditions include strong gusting winds which can lead to rapid fire spread and erratic fire behavior. These weather conditions may make fire suppression challenging. Therefore, the Florida Forest Service - Waccasassa Forestry Center will not issue any outdoor burn authorizations today, Thursday, October 29, 2026, in Alachua, Gilchrist, Levy, Marion or Putnam counties.

Please avoid any outdoor burning activities until conditions improve.

Saturday Melrose Fire Department provided a crew on Marine 24, the duty crew and some additional first responders for the annual Witches Paddle of Melrose, FL. A very windy day for all but no injuries and all had a great day on the water!

Isaias is organizing this Wednesday AM. Current satellite showing increased convection. Current spaghetti models and NHC cone here. The cone is not impact areas. It is where the center of the storm could go. Impacts expected well east and northward inland. Hurricane Hunters in route. Some Hurricane models still show Major Hurricane on approach later Friday. www.spaghettimodels.com

While it may not be a direct hit on our area, rainfall and some winds may be an issue for us. Please be prepared and we will keep you informed.
