Something isn’t adding up… 🚨💻
We recently rolled out practical ICT literacy assessments across Basic 4, 5, and 6 in our partner schools and the results were eye-opening.
📉 On average, students scored just 43% in basic computer skills.
But here’s the real story:
There’s a huge gap between what students know in theory and what they can actually do.
Many of these students have only experienced ICT through textbooks, memorization, and classroom lectures. Even in schools where computers are available. So while they can define terms and pass written exams, something changes when they sit in front of a real computer
👉 They don’t know how to use it.
And that’s not their fault, it’s a system that has prioritized theory over practice for too long.
So we’re doing something about it. 💡
We’re introducing a hands-on IT literacy program that aligns with the Ghanaian curriculum. Focusing on real skills, real tools, and real confidence.
👩🏽🏫 Plus, we’re training teachers to shift from lecture-based teaching to interactive, practical learning experiences that truly stick.
This is just the beginning.
And we’re committed to seeing those scores, and more importantly, those skills, rise by the end of this journey!
