Piceance Mustangs We are a volunteer-driven non-profit organization committed to supporting and preserving the wild mustangs of the Piceance-East Douglas HMA.

Our mission emphasizes the importance of maintaining a thriving, self-sustaining horse herd on healthy rangelands. We are a group of volunteers that support
*Long term maintenance of a viable, healthy free-roaming horse herd on
healthy rangelands, and implementing range improvement
projects. Piceance Mustangs provides support for the Bureau of Land
Management, primarily the White River Field Offic

e, in the form of goods
and volunteers. Piceance Mustangs volunteers will coordinate their efforts
with the BLM.

*Provide information and education promoting the value of the Piceance-
East Douglas Herd Management Area horses.

*To seek funding from grants, contributions and other sources to
accomplish the foregoing purposes.

The Piceance range was the setting for an incredible day, made possible by the dedicated team of Sandy, Buddy, Julie, Kathy, Shelly, Alan, and Linda, who showcased exceptional teamwork, successfully cleared and rolled significant barbed wire, and had the opportunity to witness wild horses in their natural habitat.

🌿🐎 Range Improvement Days – Piceance East Douglas HMA 🐎🌿

We’re kicking off our range improvement days starting April 25 and continuing through October on the 4th Saturday of each month!

📍 Meeting Location: Parking lot at CR 91 & CR 24
⏰ Time: 10:00 AM

This month’s project: removing barbed wire fencing 🛠️
Please bring:
✔️ Fencing pliers
✔️ Good gloves
✔️ Plenty of water 💧

After the workday, anyone interested is welcome to stick around for a range tour to check out the horses and meet the new foals 🐴❤️

Come lend a hand, enjoy the land, and be part of something meaningful. We’d love to see you there!

For more than 35 years, a unique Wyoming partnership has helped connect people and wild horses. Through collaboration between the Bureau of Land Management and the Wyoming Honor Farm, thousands of wild horses and burros have been gentled and placed into new homes.

On May 8 and 9, you’ll have the chance to see that work firsthand in Riverton. From saddle-started horses to gentled burros, each animal represents both Wyoming’s public lands and the dedication behind this long-standing program.
