Medway Foundation for Education

Medway Foundation for Education The MFE Board raises funds through fun community events in order to provide grants for various educational programs within the Medway Public School System.

Founded in 2002, the Medway Foundation for Education (MFE) is a non-profit organization charged with raising capital to fund innovative, educational projects throughout Medway’s public schools. Using moneys generated from community events, contributions, and educational grants, MFE will allocate funds through a grant process to (primarily) teacher-sponsored projects that dramatically impact the qu

ality of education that students receive. The Medway Foundation for Education (MFE) is a non-profit, non-political organization established to preserve and improve Medway’s quality education while reducing the impact of limited school budget funding. MFE seeks to provide community members with a positive, proactive means of contributing to the well being of our children and simultaneously contribute to Medway’s financial vitality. Our members understand the risks we face if we do not address our educational needs: declining MCAS Scores, deficient education for our children, declining property values and increased taxes. We expect to accomplish our mission by achieving a number of goals:

Establish fundraising events and in turn, distribute the proceeds to the schools in the form of grants for innovative programs to enhance and enrich Medway’s core curriculum. In addition to curriculum supplements, the funds would also be used to support professional-training programs for teachers and administrators. To raise an original $1,000,000 that will create an endowment on the basis of principal and investment income. The principal will create a legacy foundation to support the schools on a consistent basis regardless of successful or unsuccessful fundraising years. In addition, the endowment will dependably support the schools, with minimal required resources or effort, in the event of years where the volunteers dwindle. Combine Parent/Community involvement, grant writing, project definition and strategies to seek out creative and innovative programs to bring our educational curriculum to a higher standard. Promote awareness of the cost of education and the positive impact on our community when we support our schools
We expect the benefits to be substantial. We feel that MFE will improve the quality of education to allow our children to maximize their opportunities for continued education or employment, sustain Medway’s reputation of educational excellence, in turn sustaining a vibrant community. Finally, we believe that MFE will provide a proactive approach to managing future needs of our schools. We hope you will join us in supporting MFE and please check back with us again for updates on our progress. If you would like to contact us please email us. Brian Gray – President

Our annual Trivia Bee last week was another lively and fun-filled event, once again expertly hosted by trivia master Bob Verdolino!

Congratulations to our top three teams — all made up of Medway teachers! The Medway High School team reclaimed the top spot and brought the trophy back to the high school.

🥇 1st Place (103 points): Medway High School Teachers – Chris Borden, Andy Nassiff, Kevin Treggiari, Nick Church, and Kevin Collins

🥈 2nd Place (98 points): Peggy’s Ladies from McGovern

🥉 3rd Place (96 points): Trivia Excellence at Memorial

A heartfelt thank you to our MFE Partners, whose annual support makes events like this possible, and who sponsored multiple teams this year — Charles River Bank (thank you for playing!) and Middlesex Savings Bank.

Thank you as well to the teachers, staff, and students who participated, and to their generous sponsors: Kenney & Kenney, Club Z Tutoring of Metrowest MA, Fasolino Landscape, M.J. Coakley Landscape, Medway Lions Club, and HIS Corporation.

We also appreciate the sponsorship of Senate President Karen E. Spilka and State Representative Jeff Roy.

And finally, thank you to the many individual donors and players from the Medway community who made the evening such a success!

MFE recently funded a grant for new display boards for the Medway High School Art Department. The boards were used for the department’s semi-annual art show and made an immediate impact. They allowed staff to prepare the show earlier and present student work in a more professional and cohesive way, ensuring each piece was fully visible rather than lost among the windows used in the past. We’re always proud to support the talented artists and dedicated staff in the art department!
