Medway Lion Charlie Myers continues his history of impactful service to the Medway community. Kudos!
Community Spotlight: Charlie Myers
Some of the best community impact happens quietly and consistently and that’s exactly what Charlie Myers has been doing at the Medway Senior Center.
A longtime Medway resident, Charlie has been leading a hands-on learning series introducing seniors to a variety of AI tools and chat-based platforms. His goal is simple: show how different tools can be used for different needs in a practical, approachable way. The program meets twice a month and focuses on real-life applications like writing emails, researching family history, finding recipes, and preparing for doctor’s visits. It’s about building confidence and giving seniors tools they can actually use.
Charlie has also dedicated more than 100 hours to adult education on AI to develop this program, volunteering his time to make sure Medway seniors have access to this rapidly evolving technology in a way that’s understandable and useful.
Yesterday’s session focused on staying safe in a digital world.
Charlie welcomed Detective Sergeant Lauren Swarthout, who spoke about common financial scams targeting older adults and how evolving AI technology is being used to make those scams more convincing.
Assistant Attorney General Diana Hooley from the Massachusetts Attorney General’s Office also joined the session to discuss cryptocurrency scams and what seniors should watch for.
This is what community partnership looks like. Education, prevention, and people looking out for one another.
Thank you to Charlie for continuing to give back to the Medway community in such a meaningful way.
