We will be having a work day this Saturday, October 17 on the Sunflower Santa Fe trail near Galva. We will meet in Galva at the trail intersection at McPherson St at 8:30am. We are planning to head West to trim back some encroaching foliage, so bring your gloves, trimmers, loppers, hand saws and pole saws. If we have enough volunteers, we will also work to the East to smooth out some deep ruts left from a vehicle leading up to the first bridge.

We will have a workday this Saturday. We will meet at the empty area at the Quivira entrance to the trail. This area was mowed yesterday by a volunteer so there should be plenty of space to park.

Meeting time: 8:00 am

We are going to be busy putting together 10 forms for concrete pads. These pads will be for benches which were donated to CKC from the Ketcherside Family Foundation. We will be using 10 ft concrete frames from Ratzlaff Concrete Construction and a piece of lumber on one side. This will make more sense as we put them together. We will be using concrete mats instead of rebar this will have to be bent and sized to fit.

Items which will be helpful to bring. (if you have them)

Cordless drivers with T25 bit
Long level 2 to 4 long
2 pound hammer to drive stakes
Framing Square
Metal cutter of some type for the concrete mat
Cordless Circular saw
W**d eater
Work gloves

We're excited for the inaugural Meadowlark March happening this Saturday on the Meadowlark Trail! We're also grateful to partner with an organization that brings people out to experience the trail for a good cause.
With the event bringing increased foot traffic to the trail, it's a great reminder for all of us to practice good trail etiquette. Cyclists, please remember to yield to pedestrians, give others plenty of space, and sound off when passing others. And to everyone on the trail, please be aware of your surroundings and help us keep the trail welcoming and enjoyable for everyone.
We hope everyone has a great time at the Meadowlark March, and we'll see you out on the trail!

⭐⭐ IMPORTANT INFORMATION ⭐⭐

If you are one of our participants in either of the two walks for the 2026 Meadowlark March PLEASE CHECK YOUR EMAIL! This communication contains information about day of registration and times.

Because of the nature of this event, we are doing WAVES of Marchers. This allows for a safe walk for all participants and gives organizers the ability to get everyone to the trailhead in groups.

These waves are staggered from 8am-9:20am and check in time vary as well. Each wave will be taken to McPherson in a 15-passenger van driven by a licensed and insured volunteer.

Waves will be assigned. These have been sent to you. Please notify us immediately if the wave assigned is not doable. Please also know that there are over 50 people we are attempting to accommodate.

For the reflective walk, this email just gives you details of check in time and other information.

There will not be a workday on the Meadowlark Trail in September. There is an event taking place on the trail on the second Saturday of the month. That would have been our scheduled workday.

Another amazing crew working on the Lindsborg end of the Meadowlark trail today. 9 volunteers came out this morning. We worked a little longer than we planned so we did get into the warmer part of the morning. We hauled off 3 very full dump trailers and the trail is looking great. Thank you to everyone that could come out and work this morning.

Lindsborg Meadowlark trail workday

This Saturday is the second Saturday of the month. We are planning a workday.

We will continue trimming overhead branches on the trail. We are planning on having two dump trailers so the more helping hands we have to fill them the better!!

Meeting time: 8:00 am
Meeting place: Smoky Valley Road
Items to bring: Work gloves, chain saw if you have one, pole saw if you have one, loppers

Remember poison ivy loves this area, so please wear long pants and long sleeves.

The forecast calls for hot weather, we will work as long as we can stand it!

Lots of sand plums in the neadowlark trail.

Mostly around the bridge one half mile in from McPhetson

We had a great workday today on the Meadowlark Trail. We worked from Lindsborg south, cutting back some low-hanging tree limbs, etc. We were able to get about 3/4 of a mile completed. We had 6 volunteers and a dump trailer to use for the day. We worked 3 and a half hours with a very good crew.

There will be a workday on the Lindsborg end of the Meadowlark Trail this Saturday. Start time is 8:00 am. Please meet at the trail entrance in Lindsborg

We will be trimming back trees and overhead limbs.

Pole saws would be helpful if you have one. Other items to bring: work gloves, loppers, bug spray
