Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of Collin County recruits and trains volunteers to empower, support, and advocate for children removed from their homes due to abuse or neglect. For over 33 years, we have been Collin County's only court-mandated child advocacy program on the front line of services for children involved in child welfare. y judges to advocate for the safety and well-being of children who have been removed from their homes. Besides visiting face-to-face with each at least twice a month, CASA advocates obtain first-hand information from all parties involved in the child’s life and provide independent testimony in court. As our community grows and the number of abused children continues to grow, our goal is to ensure a CASA will be available to represent 100% of the abused and neglected children in our community. Where you'll live. Where you'll go to school. What happens next.

North Texas Giving Day is around the corner, and early giving is open!

This year feels especially meaningful for CASA of Collin County because we’re celebrating 35 years of advocacy for children in our community.

For 35 years, CASA has trained and supported volunteers who step into a child’s life during an incredibly difficult and uncertain time and simply keep showing up.
And what CASA does is truly unique.

We are the only nonprofit in Collin County providing court-appointed volunteer advocacy for children in foster care. Our volunteers get to know the child, their story, their needs and their hopes, and make sure their voice is heard throughout their case.

One community. One advocate. One child at a time.

That’s The CASA Difference, and it’s only possible because our community chooses to stand behind this work.

When you're 10 years old, moving three times in one year is a lot.

Each time meant another new bedroom, new routines, new people to get to know, and another place he had to figure out how to call home.

There wasn't much in his life that felt consistent.

Except his CASA volunteer.

She had known him before the last move, and she was still there after it.

When she came to visit, they talked about his new school and how things were going. She remembered the friend he had told her about the last time they were together and asked if they still kept in touch.

She remembered the little things.

And because she had spent time getting to know him, she could also tell when something seemed off. She knew when to ask another question or when he just needed someone to sit and listen.

That's something I wish more people understood about CASA.

Our volunteers aren't just another person involved in a child's case. They are appointed by the court to get to know that child, stay connected to what's happening in their life, and advocate for what is in their best interest.

And in Collin County, CASA is the only nonprofit that does this work.

There are so many wonderful organizations and people supporting children in foster care, and every one of them has an important role.

This is ours.

We show up. We get to know the child. We listen. And when they need someone to speak up for them, we're there.

Sometimes really is as simple as being the person who keeps coming back. 💙

There are many incredible organizations serving children in Collin County. But there is only one CASA. 💙

CASA of Collin County is the only nonprofit organization in Collin County that recruits, trains, and supports court-appointed volunteer advocates to serve children who have experienced abuse or neglect and are in foster care.

Our role is unique.

CASA volunteers are appointed by the court to get to know a child, gather information from the people and professionals in their life, and advocate for that child’s best interests.

We don’t replace caseworkers, attorneys, caregivers, therapists, or other organizations serving children.

We bring something different to the table: a dedicated volunteer advocate focused on one child’s best interests and ensuring their voice is heard.

That’s not just what makes CASA different.

As CASA of Collin County celebrates 35 years of serving children in foster care, we wanted to answer one of the questions we hear most often...

“Isn’t CASA the same thing as the Children’s Advocacy Center?”

While both organizations play vital roles in supporting children and families in our community, the answer is no.

The Children’s Advocacy Center plays a pivotal role supporting abused and neglected children regardless of who the perpetrator is, helping them through the investigation process after abuse has been reported and providing therapy when requested.

CASA of Collin County serves children who have been removed from their homes due to abuse or neglect and are involved in the child welfare system. When a judge appoints a CASA volunteer, that advocate becomes a consistent voice focused solely on the child's best interests throughout the case.

Our volunteers:

✔ Attend court hearings
✔ Visit with children regularly
✔ Gather information from everyone involved in the child's life
✔ Make recommendations directly to the judge to help inform decisions about the child's future

For 35 years, CASA of Collin County has proudly been the only nonprofit in Collin County authorized to provide court-appointed volunteer advocates for children in foster care.
While our missions are different, our shared purpose is the same, ensuring children have the support they need to heal, thrive, and build brighter futures.

MYTH: You have to be a lawyer to become a CASA volunteer.

FACT: You don't need a legal background to change a child's life.

CASA volunteers come from all walks of life, teachers, retirees, parents, college graduates, business owners, healthcare professionals, and neighbors who simply want to make a difference. What they all have in common isn't a law degree. It's compassion, commitment, and a willingness to advocate for a child in foster care. We provide the training and support you need every step of the way.

Thanks to the generosity of H-E-B Helping Here, we were able to head to H-E-B for a much-needed back-to-school restock for the children and families CASA of Collin County serves.

From school supplies to everyday essentials, these are the kinds of items that help us respond when a need comes up throughout the year.

We’re incredibly grateful for community partners like H-E-B who continue to show up for our mission and the children we serve.

Because sometimes making looks like a shopping cart filled with notebooks, pencils, water bottles, hygiene items and a whole lot of community support. 💙

Today is National Nonprofit Day!

Today, we’re celebrating the organizations, volunteers, donors, community partners, and supporters who work every day to make our communities stronger.

At CASA of Collin County, our mission is made possible because people choose to show up. They volunteer their time. They share our story. They open doors to new partnerships. They give generously. And most importantly, they believe that every child deserves to have someone in their corner.

For 35 years, CASA of Collin County has been advocating for children who have experienced abuse and neglect, ensuring their voices are heard and their best interests remain at the center of the decisions that shape their futures.

📚✏️ Back to School with Team CASA! 🍎💙

A new school year is officially underway, and some of our CASA staff kiddos are kicking it off in style! We couldn’t resist sharing a few of these sweet back-to-school moments. ❤️

Behind the work we do at CASA of Collin County is an incredible team, including some pretty amazing working moms who are balancing school drop-offs, packed lunches, homework, activities, and all the back-to-school craziness while showing up each day to serve children and families in our community.

They spend their days supporting the CASA mission and advocating for children, then head home to cheer on and care for their own kiddos. We think that deserves a little recognition, too. 💙

To all of our CASA staff families, and to every family in our community heading into a new school year, we’re wishing you a year filled with new friendships, great teachers, big accomplishments, and plenty of reasons to smile.
