We are wishing all the best to our troupe member, Olivia Charest, as she competes for the title of Miss New Bedford’s Teen later today! As part of the competition, Olivia will meet with the judges for a private interview prior to the 4:00 show. During the show, she will be judged on her 90 second talent presentation, lifestyle and wellness (fitness), evening wear, and her answer to an on-stage question. We have no doubt the judges will love her!! Good luck, Liv!! We are rootin’ for you!

Meet the Miss New Bedford’s Teen contestants!

Olivia Charest, 16, is a junior at Greater New Bedford Regional Vocational Technical High School, where she studies nursing and health assisting. Her community service initiative is entitled “The Heart Line Project: Creating Connections to End Isolation.” She will give a vocal performance for her talent.

Twenty-four years ago today, we lost someone special. Claire Tremblay gave us the monies to start this project—for equipment, music, costumes, props... She expected nothing in return but the joy of knowing that our youth performers would have an outlet to their talents while at the same time brightening the days of so many who needed a little cheer in their lives. She was excited about our program and would listen to snippits of our recorded rehearsals as she eagerly anticipated our first public performance. She unexpectedly passed away 4 days before our first show at the age of 69. So today we remember her with gratitude and celebrate all the good she has done for us and the community over the last 24 years. We love you, “Aunt Claire.”

The Showstoppers Performance Troupe Is Seeking Local Talent

The Showstoppers community-service singing troupe is seeking talented youth for its 25th season. Boys and girls in grades 2 to 12 with singing ability are encouraged to apply.

Candidates are asked to submit 2 audition videos, one ballad and one upbeat song, for review. Callbacks will be in person by appointment. Submissions do not need to be professionally done and can be recordings of solos in previous school productions. We are looking for kids with great potential.

Successful candidates will rehearse one day per week for an average of 90 minutes and will have the opportunity to perform with the New Bedford Symphony Orchestra on December 20. They will also make an impact on their community by providing musical entertainment to the elderly at nursing homes, senior centers, and assisted living facilities throughout the Southcoast. The troupe also performs for the community at-large through a variety of private and public venues, including fairs, festivals, schools, malls, charitable fundraisers and other civic events.
