Mastic Beach Conservancy is a nonprofit, community-led organization which aims to conserve, protect and maintain the roughly 6.5 miles of publicly-accessible, recreational parkland waterfront throughout the Mastic Beach and Shirley Conservation Area.

Last week, our oyster volunteers planted the oysters we raised over the summer into reefs!

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who showed up week after week to clean and care for our oysters. Your dedication helps support the restoration of our local waters and the future of this important initiative.

Special shout out to our 2026 FLUPSY manager and our intern who is compiling all our growth data.

We’re also grateful to Ørsted for funding this project which helped make this work possible!

Ecology Art Lab: Witness The Wind
A Collaborative Community Sculpture Project with Long Island Artist Jessamyn Go

Join Long Island ceramic artist Jessamyn Go for Witness the Wind, a collaborative public art project celebrating the shoreline, community, and the power of wind.

During this free, hands-on clay workshop, you’ll learn basic hand-building techniques and create a handmade ceramic component that will become part of a larger wind-activated sculpture designed by Jessamyn.

Your piece won’t just go home with you—it will become part of the finished public artwork. Jessamyn will incorporate the community-created ceramic elements into the sculpture, which will be completed by the end of 2026 and installed along the bay in Mastic Beach in 2027.

The project is inspired by the wind as both a natural force and a potential source of renewable energy. The finished sculpture will interact with the environment, bringing together clay, wind, movement, and the creative contributions of our community.

No previous clay or art experience is necessary. Just bring your curiosity and willingness to get your hands dirty.

Accessibility
ASL and Spanish-language assistance will be available upon request. Please indicate on the registration form if you would like an ASL or Spanish interpreter on site.

In the event of rain, the workshop will move indoors to the MMS Community Library. Registered participants will be notified of any location change.

This project is made possible with funds from the Statewide Community Regrants Program, a regrant program of the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of the Office of the Governor and the New York State Legislature and administered by The Huntington Arts Council.

The storm tried to stop us, but the Fifth Annual Bivalve Ball had other plans! More than 130 people packed the Mastic Beach Property Owners Clubhouse for an unforgettable night of good food, great company, music, oysters, and plenty of fun.

We are so grateful to everyone who showed up, sponsored, donated, volunteered, bid, and helped make this incredible night possible. Your support allows Mastic Beach Conservancy to continue protecting our waterfront and creating opportunities for our community.

LAST CALL FOR THE BIVALVE BALL!

Tomorrow is the big night, and we are SO excited to move forward with the Fifth Annual Bivalve Ball in our new, safer location in Mastic Beach.

We’ve moved to a larger space, which means we can welcome a few more guests! A limited number of tickets are now available again. If you wanted to join us but couldn’t get a ticket before, now’s your chance to come celebrate with us!

A little change of plans, but we are SO excited to keep the Bivalve Ball going!

With a storm in the forecast, we’ve moved this Saturday’s Bivalve Ball to a new, safer indoor location in Mastic Beach. We’re looking forward to bringing everyone together for an incredible evening celebrating conservation, community, and our coastal environment.

Well, Mother Nature has decided to throw us a curve ball this year. With a storm in the forecast, we’ve made the decision to move this Saturday’s Bivalve Ball to a larger indoor location — but there’s no way we’re letting a little weather stop the celebration!

We’re bringing the island vibes indoors to the Mastic Beach Property Owners Clubhouse, located at 31 Neighborhood Road, at the corner of Orchid Drive. And there’s actually something pretty special about that: we get to celebrate our Fifth Bivalve Ball right here in Mastic Beach.

The cocktails will still be flowing, the oysters will still be shucked, the steel drums will still be playing, and we’ll be celebrating everything we love about Mastic Beach and the Conservancy. And as a silver lining to our change of plans, we’re extending the dancing at the end of the night! So plan to stay a little longer and hit the dance floor.

And now, we can offer a few more tickets! If you couldn’t get yours before, come join the party!
