Let’s talk prizes!

Visit one of the 26 Long Island History Hunt designated sites, take a selfie challenge, and upload your snap to the Long Island History Hunt website. That’s all it takes to be eligible to win one of five prizes.

If you complete 10 or more selfie challenges, you’re entered into a drawing for a $250 cash prize to mark America’s 250th anniversary.

Complete all 26 challenges? That’s the big time. You’ll be in the running for the grand prize of $1,776 cash, museum memberships and cool merchandise presented at a special awards luncheon.

You’ve got until September 30, 2026, and there’s no better time to start than now! Register at LIHistoryHunt.com

The Long Island History Hunt is thrilled that one of the 26 designated sites in this year’s contest, Raynham Hall Museum, is on the Empire State Ride Long Island route to end cancer. Pedal the beautiful North Shore route on June 13, and 100% of the proceeds will go toward funding life-saving cancer research trials. Ride for someone you love.

One estate once controlled nearly 40% of Brookhaven.

St. George’s Manor in Shirley was originally granted to William “Tangier” Smith by the King of England and became one of the most historically significant properties on Long Island. During the Revolutionary War, Benjamin Tallmadge led a daring raid here from Connecticut to capture the British fort stationed on the property.

Today, the manor still stands as a reminder of Long Island’s colonial and Revolutionary War history.

This is my first stop for the 2026 Long Island History Hunt. If you visit, make sure to explore the museum inside and don’t forget to feed the goats.
