For the many friends of Margaret, we mourn together and will miss her great smile and conversations. Whether during her time in the Scout Office in Mason City, at the many Cub Scouting events, or as part of the Woodbadge Course of 2018 with her son Mike. Her passing was sudden and unexpected, leaving many friends, co-workers, and her family feeling a great loss. Margaret was indeed guided by a unique spirit and energy that will be missed.

Beginning May 27th the City of Waterloo will begin work to replace the frontage road in front of the Winnebago Council Service Center. During this time all visitors must use the driveway of our neighbors, AssuredPartners, from Airline Hwy. to access the temporary road to the Winnebago Council Service Center parking lot. Please see the map for reference.
It is estimated that this project will be completed in two weeks, depending on weather.

With the passing of our friends and leaders in the Lakeland District, and across the Winnebago Council, we are instantly flooded with all the memories.
Word came today that Fred Fox passed early this morning. Many will remember Fred as the Scoutmaster for Troop 1012 in Mason City for several years. He was WB trained, and in the Fox Patrol. He staffed for WB and was on the cooking team of Hogg, Fox, Buffington, and Mannes for many years. He leaves his wife - Robin, sons-Matt and Brian, their wives and children.

More will be posted here, when the arrangements are finalized.

Second round of photos from Winter Rendezvous this last weekend. Tim Hamilton - Course Director for 2024, We greatly appreciate all the work and many fine details that went into this event. What a great group of volunteers and scouts to hang out with! Every year, the Winter Rendezvous is a shining star in our caps here in the Lakeland District for preparing scouts for all their winter activities large and small. Thank you all for attending and scouting. Also a big Shout Out to our LL District District Exec. Zachary Brunkhorst for hanging with us all day long!

The 2024 Lakeland District Winter Rendezvous was a success according to Scouts, Leaders and Families.
The numbers of scouts was down due to so many events on the same day, but the energy was there right along with the drop in temps and the increase in wind. No snow, but actually was a great day in Iowa for the Wright County CERT Team to instruct and perform Ice/Water rescue techniques to every age. Older scouts took what they learned and then went to their Patrol Area to practice what they learned in Victim rescue, fire building for warmth and food prep and improptu shelter building.

Leaders, here is what you are looking for - your Troop needs to attend this as one of the best ways to get your scouts in the prep mode for bigger winter adventures! What they prepare for and learn here, will get them to their Red Flannel and Zero Hero awards and Ok-Pik, the Northern Tier High Adventure Camp.
Plus it's just plain fun! Don't wait, the registration is OPEN FOR BUSINESS!!
